Description of Services

The Trumbull Senior Center offers a variety of innovative programs and activities for older adults geared towards staying healthy and independent: exercise classes, art classes, crafts, games, lectures, trips, health screenings and support groups. It is a designated focal point where older adults and caregivers can access information, programs and services of interest in one place.

Transportation Services - The Trumbull Senior Center provides transportation to Trumbull residents, age 60 and over and/or age 55-59 and disabled. Rides are available Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. -2:30 p.m. Rides are for those traveling to and from the senior center, medical appointments, legal appointments, personal needs (beauty, bank, etc) and nutrition programs. We travel to Bridgeport, Stratford, Shelton, and Monroe. Grocery shopping is offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to the Trumbull Stop and Shop. On Thursday the center offers “The Shuttle Loop” which offers riders a choice of over 10 locations for shopping. All riders must be independent; care givers are welcome to accompany riders. All buses are equipped with a wheelchair lift. Service animals and assistive devices welcome. Please be aware that the senior center does not provide assistance to and from the vehicle. Senior Center Membership is not required but all riders must register with the office staff. There is no cost for transportation, however, donations are gratefully accepted. Program Activities - The center offers a variety of innovative programs and activities for older adults geared towards staying healthy: Exercise classes, art classes, lectures, health screenings, support groups, crafts, games, and trips.

Nutrition Program - The Town of Trumbull and CW Resources collaborate to provide a nutritious daily lunch at the Senior Center. Lunch is served Monday through Friday from 12 noon to 11:45 am. Please make your lunch reservations 2 days in advance. For reservations call (203) 378-3086 10am-noon. There is a suggested donation of $3.25.

Individual Support 

CHOICES counseling - Connecticut’s program for Health insurance assistance, Outreach, Information & referral, Counseling and Eligibility Screening. Counselors offer free Medicare and Health insurance benefits explanation and enrollment assistance for Medicare and other related health insurance options such as: Medicare Part D, Supplemental policies, Medicaid, and low income assistance. Counselors offer benefit screenings for programs such as SNAP benefits, Medicare Savings Program, Medicaid and the CT Home Care Program.

Wellness Nurse - A Wellness Nurse is available at the Senior Center. The Registered Nurse’s focus is on prevention. She is a wealth of knowledge. Stop by to see her for information and consultation, bring your meds, discharge papers, and questions. Navigating the health care system can be difficult, let the Wellness Nurse help. Hours vary and will be posted at the Senior Center’s Main Office, no appointment needed. Phone 203-452-5134.

Social Services - The Department provides programs such as benefits screenings, financial assistance, resources, information and assistance, counseling and advocacy. In-office and home visits are offered.

All monetary donations made to the Social Services Department are used solely to assist Trumbull residents experiencing hardship. Please call Social Services to inquire about program criteria and eligibility.  Emergency Assistance Applicant Guidelines

Emergency Assistance - The Emergency Services program was established to provide immediate emergency assistance and relief to families and individuals who are faced with an
unexpected financial crisis. At the onset of an emergency, Trumbull Social Services is available to offer direct immediate assistance in the form of financial assistance for utilities, medications, food, and other immediate pressing needs.
