About Ray

Florence and Raymond Baldwin, Sr. moved to Trumbull in 1947 and raised six children…Ray, Tom, Mary Ann, Patty, Kevin and Brian. Ray attended St. Theresa’s grammar school, graduated in 1962 and became a member of the first incoming class of freshmen to attend St. Joseph High School.

Ray graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1966 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, served in Vietnam (1968-1969) and received his Honorable Discharge with the rank of Sergeant in 1970. Ray immediately joined the Trumbull Police Department. He attended the University of New Haven during the evening and graduated in 1978 with his BS degree. He continued his studies at night school at the University of Bridgeport School of Law where he earned his JD degree in 1984. He retired from the Trumbull Police Department in 1985 with the rank of Sergeant.

Ray went on to work with two Trumbull law firms and served as the Town Attorney from 1997-1999.  Ray’s government and community service dates as far back as 1969 with his initial and ongoing involvement in the American Legion Post 141, the VFW Post 10059, as well as with the Trumbull Rotary Club.

Over the years, Ray has been heavily involved in Trumbull sports and served on the Trumbull Little League Board of Directors from 1985 – 1991. In addition, he was also an EMS driver and an active member of the Land Acquisition Committee, the Veteran’s Advisory Commission, Town Council, Board of Finance and the Tashua Knolls Golf Commission.

Ray’s love for Trumbull and dedication and commitment to the town contributed to his successful election as Trumbull First Selectman in 2001.

Ray and his wife, Mary Ann, reside in Trumbull and have two married children, Kelly and Raymond and a beautiful granddaughter Avery Rae Cahill.
