Join the Post

As a police cadet in the Town of Trumbull, you will receive a wide variety of knowledge then apply these skills in a practical sense.  Through this process you will develop better leadership skills & self-confidence.  You will also develop a working knowledge or our current criminal justice system, which may lead to a future career.

Some of the activities we participate in include:

  • Instruction from well – experienced professionals
  • Visits to various law enforcement agencies, ie: Connecticut Department of Corrections, Forensic Crime Lab, Connecticut Police Academy
  • Leadership & team development
  • Fundraising activities
  • And many more

Cadet Requirements

Trumbull Police Department & Trumbull Emergency Medical Service requires that all cadets are at least fifteen (15) years of age; or fourteen (14) years of age and have completed the eight (8) grade. The Trumbull Cadet Post does not consider applications for individuals who are older than twenty (20) years of age. Cadets must resign from the post on or before their twenty first (21) birthday. Cadets can however become an advisor on their twenty first (21) birthday.  

How to Join

Applicants may apply online or pickup and submit a Police Cadet Application from the Trumbull Police Department at 158 Edison Road, Trumbull, CT 06611.  Once completed, applicants will be contacted by an Officer / Advisor to schedule an interview.

Completion of the application does not constitute acceptance into the Post. A thorough background check will be conducted, references will be contacted, and an interview of the candidate will be conducted. Once this process is complete and the candidate is recommended, an invitation to the program will be extended as vacancies open. This program has an operational limit of 30 participants.

The application consists of: Personal Information, Hold Harmless Agreement & Disclosure, Citizen Rider Program – Waiver of Liability (needs to be notarized).
