SUSPECT CAPTURED FOLLOWING ARMED ROBBERY AT TRUMBULL MALL
New: A New Haven man was in police custody early Saturday morning, following a six-hour standoff with Bridgeport and Trumbull Police. Eddie Lynch, age 24, of Rock Creek Road, New Haven, surrendered to Emergency Services officers at about 1:10 a.m. at the scene on Madison Avenue and Anton Street in Bridgeport, where he had crashed during a police pursuit with Trumbull officers on Friday evening.
Bridgeport Police secured the area immediately surrounding the intersection and were negotiating with Lynch continuously for several hours to encourage his peaceful surrender. However, the circumstances were tense, with Lynch firing his gun at the officers at least once during that time. Following his arrest, officers recovered a variety of evidence from the jewelry store robbery, including a handgun and stolen merchandise.
Lynch was transported to Trumbull Police headquarters where he was processed and charged with a variety of offenses which include: Robbery First Degree; Criminal Possession of a Firearm; Larceny First Degree; and various others, as well as Criminal Attempted Murder, and Attempted Assault First Degree on a Police Officer - related to the events that occurred during the standoff.
He was held on a $500,000 bond, pending a December 28, 2020 court date in Bridgeport. Additional motor vehicle charges related to the pursuit were included, with a separate bond of $50,000.
Lynch was found to have an active Domestic Violence arrest warrant for Assault and Strangulation from New Haven PD, with an additional $20,000 court-set bond. Lynch is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm as the result of a Robbery conviction from 2015 in Bridgeport.

TRUMBULL MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT RESULTS IN PEDESTRIAN FATALITY
A single-car motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian resulted in the death of a Trumbull woman late Friday afternoon, November 20, just after 5:00 p.m. The pedestrian, Lisa Cimmino, age 57, of Madison Avenue, Trumbull, was walking on Canoe Brook Road when she was struck by a vehicle, causing serious life-threatening injuries.
Trumbull Police received several 911 calls to report that a female had been struck by a vehicle in the area of Canoe Brook Road near Madison Avenue. A sedan traveling on Canoe Brook Road struck the victim, and immediately came to a stop a short distance away. Trumbull Police officers treated the victim at the scene until Trumbull EMS arrived to assist with rendering medical aid to Cimmino. She was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center where she died a short time later from her injuries.
The local Trumbull man who was driving, was the only occupant of the vehicle and remained on scene to offer his full cooperation with police during the investigation. The Trumbull and Monroe Police Departments’ Traffic Divisions are currently investigating this incident. Due to the conditions surrounding the accident during the preliminary investigation, no charges have been filed.

Subject was taken into custody at the Bridgeport location at about 1:15 a.m., and was transported to Trumbull PD where he will be processed. Information on his identity and charges will be provided later on Saturday, 11/21/2020.

SUSPECT CAPTURED FOLLOWING ARMED ROBBERY AT TRUMBULL MALL
A man who is suspected of an armed robbery at the Zales jewelry store inside the Westfield Trumbull Mall was cornered by police in Bridgeport, where he crashed during a pursuit by Trumbull officers. As of 10:00 p.m. this evening, the driver was refusing to exit the car, which became disabled at that location, while officers surrounded him.
Police were monitoring the traffic exiting the mall after several 911 calls reporting a gunshot and robbery inside the mall. Officers spotted the fleeing vehicle leaving the mall onto Main Street and continued a pursuit until the driver lost control at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Anton Street in Bridgeport. The driver is believed to still have the gun that was used in the robbery.
Shortly after 7:00 p.m. police were notified of the robbery and gunshot at the Zales jewelry store. They learned that the lone male had entered the store brandishing a handgun, which he used to shatter a glass display case. While doing this, the gun apparently discharged, firing one bullet. The man grabbed several gold chains and fled the area on foot.
No injuries were reported during the incident, but nearby store employees and patrons were temporarily closed out from the immediate area. The mall remained open until its regular closing that was scheduled for 9:00 p.m.
Bridgeport Police took control of the crash scene and continued to encourage the suspect’s surrender. Additional information will be released tomorrow, November 20, 2020.

There was an armed robbery this evening at the Trumbull Mall at Zales Jewelers. One shot was fired. There are no injuries. Police have identified one suspect in this case, who took several necklaces. The suspect is currently in Bridgeport and is about to be taken into custody.
The Trumbull Mall is safe and has been reopened. Trumbull Police are assisting patrons who are exiting the mall.
In a separate incident, there was a fatal accident in the Canoe Brook Road area. Police are still on scene and investigating.
