[NEW 10:40 AM] On Wednesday, July 14, 2021, a single car motor vehicle accident, occurred in Trumbull, ending with the death of a Bridgeport teen. The victim, a seventeen (17) year old male, was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle.
At around 12:30 AM, the Trumbull Police received several 911 calls to report the motor vehicle accident in the area of Old Town Road near Quarry Road. Arriving Trumbull officers began rendering medical aid to him. Nelson Ambulance arrived and assisted with treating the victim before transporting him to Bridgeport Hospital where he later died from his injuries. The Trumbull Center Fire Department also responded and assisted with securing the scene.
The teen’s vehicle had traveled Westerly on Old Town Road before it collided with the guard rail and bridge abutment near White Plains Road (Route 127), before coming to rest near Quarry Road. The accident scene spanned the entire block of Old Town Road.
The Trumbull and Monroe Police Department’s Traffic Divisions are currently investigating this incident. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notification.
At approximately 7:00 AM, the area of Old Town Road between White Plains Road and Quarry Road has been reopened. Traffic flow has since returned to normal and the detours around the area of Old Town Road are no longer in effect.
(Original) Effective immediately, motorists should avoid the area of Old Town Road, between Quarry Road and White Plains Road (Route 127) in Trumbull, which is near the Bridgeport town line, due to a motor vehicle accident.
The Trumbull Police is currently investigating the accident, and this section of the road will remained closed for the next several hours. Motorists should avoid this area and use alternate routes until further notice.
