2021-11-17: Armed Suspect in Domestic Disturbance Surrenders (Updated)

[NEW] A Trumbull man was arrested early Wednesday morning, following a brief standoff with Trumbull Police at his home. Robert Zambrzycki, age 42, of 562 Tashua Road, Trumbull, surrendered to Emergency Services officers at about 12:00 AM outside of his residence on Tashua Road after hiding in a boat that was located on the property.

Trumbull Police were called to the residence after receiving a 911 call from Zambrzycki’s wife who reported a verbal argument that occurred between the two. She stated that Zambrzycki left the house with a loaded firearm and fired one gunshot in an unknown direction just outside the door while he was on their property. The family was told to shelter in place inside their home as Trumbull Police responded and surrounded the property. Members of the Southwest Regional Emergency Response Team also responded and negotiated with the Zambrzycki, who later peacefully surrendered to the officers.

Trumbull EMS responded to the scene to transport Zambrzycki to St. Vincent’s Hospital for evaluation, however no injuries were reported.

While at the hospital, Zambrzycki was issued a Misdemeanor Summons and charged with Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm and Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree. He was released on a Promise to Appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on November 29, 2021 court date.

On Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at approximately 8:00 PM, Trumbull Police were called to a home in the Tashua Road area for a domestic disturbance. Before police arrived, the suspect fled from the house to an adjacent building on the property armed with a handgun.

Police immediately secured the area surrounding the home's property. The Southwest Regional Emergency Response Team was activated and negotiated with the suspect, who peacefully surrendered to officers.

A Trumbull Citizen Alert Message was sent to area residents, along with social media alerts telling them there is Police activity in your neighborhood. Please remain in your homes, and lock your doors until further notice. The warning was canceled shortly after midnight when the suspect was taken into custody.

No injuries were reported during the incident, which is still under investigation.
