Center at Priscilla Place Kitchen and Dining Room Renovations Announced

June 4, 2018 - - First Selectman Vicki Tesoro and Director of Human Services Michele Jakab announce that the Center at Priscilla Place kitchen and dining room will undergo renovations to upgrade and update the area to maximize the use of the space. A bid has gone out to secure a contractor and construction is expected to begin this summer. Connecticut state grants secured in 2012 and 2014 will be used to pay for these renovations.

Vicki Tesoro states, “I’m happy to see that the state grant money is being used to upgrade the long overdue renovation of the senior center kitchen.”

The renovations will include replacing most of the kitchen appliances, flooring, ceiling, cabinets, and countertops. The dining space adjacent to the kitchen will also get a facelift with new paint, repaired window blinds, and repaired ceiling tiles.

Michele Jakab states, “We are excited for this to begin and look forward to creating a space for regular social gatherings for all our members to enjoy.”

This space will continue to be used by the federally-funded nutritional program to provide a daily hot lunch for qualifying participants.
