Two (2) men were apprehended after dumping a truckload of used vehicle tires near a local retail parking lot, onto property bordering Old Mine Park in Trumbull. Jamel Bracy, age 25, of Bronx, New York, and Jordan Malone, age 26, of Danbury, Connecticut, were charged with Littering and Discharge without a Permit when they were stopped by officers several blocks away on Route 25.
On Friday, May 19 at about 6:00 p.m., the men were observed unloading tires from a box truck while parked behind an unoccupied building next to the Home Depot building, located at 90 Monroe Turnpike. Officers spotted the truck leaving the area and stopped the vehicle on Monroe Turnpike (Route 111) near Main Street (Route 25) in Trumbull, which is a short distance from the Monroe town line.
Local business owners who had been monitoring the area had alerted police late Friday afternoon when the truck was observed near the same location and two (2) men, later identified as Bracy and Malone, unloading tires and throwing them down an embankment in this secluded wooded area of the business parking lot. Bracy and Malone were then positively identified as the involved suspects during this incident, but police have not determined the origin of these tires.
In recent weeks, police received reports of hundreds of vehicle tires that had been dumped in this wooded area, but had nothing to indicate who was responsible for dumping them in that location. The quantity was large enough to suggest that multiple truckloads had been discarded in this same area.
Both men were each held on a $3,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on May 31, 2023.
