World Wide Knit in Public Day Saturday, June 10th from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Knitters, crocheters, and all yarn lovers are welcome to join us for World Wide Knit in Public Day. Bring your project outdoors and enjoy the company of fellow crafters. Seats will be available at the gazebo between Town Hall and the Library. Fun activities will be available to participate in. All skill levels welcome.

Reading with Antoinette Brim-Bell Connecticut's Poet Laureate Sunday, June 11th from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friends of the Trumbull Library presents a visit with Antoinette Brim-Bell, Connecticut's 8th Poet Laureate. Join us at the main library branch for an engaging afternoon of poetry and discussion with Antoinette Brim-Bell.  Author of three full-length poetry collections: These Women You Gave Me, Icarus in Love, and Psalm of the Sunflower. She is a Cave Canem Foundation Fellow and an alumna of Voices of Our Nations Arts Foundation (VONA). Brim-Bell was nominated for the Pushcart Prize twice; for poetry and essay. Registration is required for this event.

Most-Anticipated Movies of Summer 2023 with Film Critic Joe Meyers Monday, June 12th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Indoors in an ice cold movie theatre might be the best place this summer. If you're wondering which blockbuster movie to add to your must watch list, join Film Critic Joe Meyer for a review. Plus he'll discuss his top streaming picks. Join us! 

Movie Matinee at Fairchild Tuesday, June 13th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Join us for a viewing of Harriet. “The extraordinary tale of Harriet Tubman's escape from slavery and transformation into one of America's greatest heroes, whose courage, ingenuity, and tenacity freed hundreds of slaves and changed the course of history.” Register here. 

Beyond the Amistad: Black History at the Connecticut Historical Society Tuesday, June 13th from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. In this program, we’ll take you on a tour of items from our collection representing a spectrum of the Black experience in CT. You’ll learn about a Harlem Renaissance writer, Ann Petry, who carefully preserved artifacts chronicling the black community of Saybrook. Examine daguerreotypes by Augustus Washington, who abandoned a successful Hartford photography business to build a new nation in Africa. Marvel at the gorgeous costumes created by CT’s West Indian community for their annual MAS celebration, and see artifacts documenting the Civil Rights movement in our state. Register here.

Women & Money Roundtable: How to Make Sense of Today’s Financial Markets Wednesday, June 14th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The Women and Money Roundtable is a monthly financial literacy program designed to educate women of any age about the financial matters that affect their lives. Toddler Time for 2's and 3's Monday, June 12th from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Toddler time is now drop in! Join Ms. Chelsie in person for stories, songs, and dances. Ages 2-3.

Baby Time Tuesday, June 13th from 11 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. Ages birth to 2. Join Miss Elise in the Community Room for storytime! Listen to a story, sing songs, and perform fingerplays. We have a limited number of seat cushions for sitting on the floor, so families are invited to bring blankets or towels as well. Registration is not required.

Summer Reading Kickoff: Dinosaurs Rock! Satuday, June 17th from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Join a DINOSAURS ROCK expert for a fun and educational Jurassic journey, complete with museum-quality life-size specimens as the backdrop to exploring the world of dinosaurs and fossils. This will be an unforgettable program filled with learning and laughter. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Registration is required.
