Find Your Voice with Poet Steven Ostrowski Monday, July 10th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join poet, fiction writer, and songwriter Steven Ostrowski for a poetry workshop. He will talk with participants about how to find their voice through poetry and will read samples of his work. Join us!

Movie Matinee @ Fairchild: The Whale Tuesday, July 11th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Join us for a viewing of The Whale. “Scarred by the profound wounds of grief and guilt, couch-bound Charlie, an online writing instructor living with chronic obesity, now has a crystal-clear view of his secret intentions. And confined to his claustrophobic and musty apartment, the self-destructive shut-in has all the time in the world to contemplate the damaging faults of the past, fatherhood, and reconciliation.”

Yoga at the Library Tuesday, July 11th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join Joanne Orenstein, Health & Wellness Director at the Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA, for an hour of Vinyasa Yoga. Register here. 

The Yarn Darlings Wednesday, July 12th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join our new fiber arts group The Yarn Darlings! Bring your knitting, crocheting, needle punching, needle felting, or any other yarn craft to work on while socializing with other crafters. All skill levels are welcome. Registration is requested for the group but not required. Basic knitting and crocheting help are available upon request. Please email Holly Harwood at hharwood@trumbull-ct.gov before the session with basic help requests.

Children and Teen Programming

Toddler Time for 2s and 3s Monday, July 10th from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Toddler time is now drop in! Join Ms. Chelsie in person for stories, songs, and dances. Ages 2-3.

Colonial Kids Tuesday, July 11th from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Explore daily life in colonial Connecticut through reproduction objects and hands-on activities. Compare and contrast your lives to those of colonial children while learning about both work and play. Make a reproduction “hornbook,” examine clothing, try out daily chores, and enjoy playing with reproduction colonial-era toys. Ages 5-8. Registration is required.

Character in Colonial CT Tuesday, July 11th from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Work in teams to learn about a character from colonial Connecticut, such as a tinsmith, tavern keeper, Patriot soldier, enslaved person, or Woodland Indian trader. Explore one “identity box,” through handling reproduction artifacts, practicing close observation skills, and completing a series of activities related to the character’s life. Ages 8-12. Registration is required.

Creators’ Corner Exploration Tuesday, July 11th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Join us at the Fairchild-Nichols Memorial Library and learn to use our 3D printer. If you are interested in attending or using the 3D printer please email Paula Carlson: pcarlson@trumbull-ct.gov.

Edible Wild Plants and Fungi of Summer Wednesday, July 12th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Learn how to identify, sustainably harvest, and prepare the wild foods of summer, from beach plums to invasive wineberries, including some of the choice summer fungi like chanterelles and the myriad of pored Boletes. Join The 3 Foragers as they teach the edible plants and fungi of summer with their original photos and recipe ideas. Registration required, ages 12 and up.
