Mini-Zines with Zanny Saturday, August 5th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Create your own subculture self-publication! Bring an idea, then draw, write, cute & paste to share your knowledge. Mini-zines are one page folded, handmade paper expressions of ideas, facts, photos, etc., created by an individual. Participants will learn the basics and our instructor, Zanny, will be on hand to answer any questions participants may have. Register here. 

Movie Matinee at Fairchild Tuesday, August 8th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The movie matinee at Fairchild Nichols will be Summertime, a classic featuring Katharine Hepburn. Register here. 

Yoga at the Library Tuesday, August 8th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join Joanne Orenstein, Health & Wellness Director at the Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA, for an hour of Vinyasa Yoga. Register here.

Genealogy for all with Jennifer Zinck: Getting Started with Genealogy Wednesday, August 9th from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. From antique heirlooms to cutting-edge science, there is something for everyone who is interested in family history. Have fun learning about records and places that provide clues to your ancestors, the easiest way to find those resources, and what to do once you have found them. Grow your family tree through a variety of online resources that will be introduced. This series is designed for both beginner and intermediate experience levels. DIY: Wire and Bead Garden Adornment Monday, August 14th from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Spend a lovely evening with us creating an enchanting garden adornment. Participants will uses wire and beads to construct their own globe shaped outdoor decoration. All supplies are included. Registration is required for this event.

Kids and Teen Programming

Toddler Time for 2's and 3's Monday, August 7th from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Toddler time is now drop in! Join Ms. Chelsie in person for stories, songs, and dances. Ages 2-3. 

All That and a Bag of Chips: 90s Guessing Game Monday, August 7th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Join Miss Elise for a 90s guessing game featuring toys, movies, TV shows, and more. Read the description and guess if what Miss Elise is describing was a real thing back in the 1990s! Small prizes awarded to the two top-scoring participants as well as one randomly selected participant. No 90s or 80s babies (a.k.a. parents) allowed! Ages 8-12. Registration required.

We have a limited number of seat cushions for sitting on the floor, so families are invited to bring blankets or towels as well. Registration is not required. Questions? Teens: Shrinky Dink Program Thursday, August 10th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Come create your own original shrinky dink creation. Shrink paper, markers, and all other supplies will be provided. If there is enough time you may also turn your creation into a pin. Ages 12 - 17. Registration is required. 

Cut, Craft & Create Family Event Saturday, August 12th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Drop-in at the library to celebrate the end of our summer reading program! Enjoy 90s themed crafts that are da bomb at this family event. Registration is requested but not required. All crafts are first come first serve.

Art Attack with Deb Dean Monday, August 7th from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. “Think Outside the Box” Decorating Cigar Boxes – using a variety of items we will transform a cigar box into a work of art. The bonus is, they are useable art! All materials provided. Registration required, ages 12 and up.
