Trumbull Historical Society Presents... That's Weird: Bizarre Connecticut Artifacts Saturday, January 20th from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Trumbull Historical Society, curators from the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History will present That's Weird! Hair jewelry? Creepy puppets? Corpse preserver? This presentation explores some of CMCH’s strangest items. You will learn how even the oddest artifacts can be gateways into a deeper understanding and appreciation of our state’s history. Register here.

Computer Basics with Career Coach Mobile Classroom Wednesday, January 24th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Come and have a blast at our workshop where we make computers super simple and fun! What is The Cloud? Join us to find out! Ever wondered how the internet works? We’ll unravel its secrets for you! Find out about computer software and why it’s different from hardware. Discover handy shortcuts you can use with your keyboard! Learn the simple steps to keep your files safe by backing it up. Must register for the morning session or the afternoon session. 

Fiction Writing Mash-Up Thursday, January 25th from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Ready for a writing challenge this winter? Join author and fiction writing teacher, Kim Kovach, to combine different fiction genres to inspire Fiction Writing Mash-Up stories!  Flex your story writing imagination and have fun writing a Science Fiction/Romance or a Dystopian/50-word story and maybe a Fairy Tale/Confessional in this 8-week writing program via Zoom. Registration required.

Learn the Ukulele (for adults) Saturday, January 27th from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Want to try an instrument that is fun and easy to play? Join Julie Stepanek as she shows the fundamentals of ukulele playing. No experience necessary. Ukuleles provided. Registration is required.

Twelve Days: How the Union Nearly Lost Washington in the First Days of the Civil War Sunday, January 28th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Join us for a presentation with Trumbull author Tony Silber as he discusses his new book Twelve Days: How the Union Nearly Lost Washington in the First Days of the Civil War. Books will be available for sale and signing after the event. Registration is suggested but not required. Please register for this event to receive a reminder notification and up-to-date program information. 

Cloud Weaving with Laura Monday, January 29th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Embrace the cozy side of winter with this tactile and meditative weaving project. We will use a cloud-shaped wooden loom for the frame of our piece. At the beginning of class, we will learn how to warp a loom and different techniques for creating textures using yarn and wool roving. The colors and composition of your cloud weaving will be up to you. Register here. 

Sustainable Trumbull Presents: Everything Energy Efficiency Monday, January 29th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Are you paying too much for your home energy? Have you thought about solar but unsure where to start? Do you want to learn more about owning an electric vehicle and the associated home energy costs and charging logistics? Join presenters from the Connecticut Greenbank and Avangrid to learn about financial incentives and programs for home energy savings. Presentations will be followed by Q&A with organization representatives. Registration is encouraged but not required. Drop-ins welcome!

Get a Clue Mystery Book Club Monday, January 22nd from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join our mystery slash mystery-thriller book club! We will meet in hybrid format the fourth Monday of the month to discuss the book. Copies of the month’s pick will be available at the circulation desk. We'll discuss this month’s pick The Night Shift by Alex Finlay. Registration required to receive zoom link.

Furry Scaly Friends: Tween & Teen De-stressor Thursday, January 25th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tired from studying? Worried how you might have done on your mid-terms? Just want to snuggle with some cute, cuddly critters? Join us as Marisa from "Furry Scaly Friends" brings a whole host of animals that you can pet, pick up, and feed! Some animals include, but not limited to, guinea pigs, rabbits, a bearded dragon, iguana, ferrets and a hedgehog. Additional animals for observation and hand feeding only will include an axolotl, prairie dogs, and sugar glider. Registration is required: we don't want to overwhelm the animals!

Music for Little Ones Saturday, January 27th from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Join Julie Stepanek for a fun and energetic music program featuring an electric ukulele, shakers, scarves, and some of your favorite songs! Ages 1-5. Registration is required.

Storytime 2s & 3s Tuesday, January 23rd from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Come join us for story time! We will have a little bit of stories and a show stopping craft. Registration required. Ages 2-3.

Creators’ Corner Exploration Wednesday, January 24th from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Join us at the Fairchild-Nichols Memorial Library and learn to use our 3D printer. If you are interested in attending or using the 3D printer please email Paula Carlson: pcarlson@trumbull-ct.gov

D & D Club Wednesday, January 31st from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Make new friends and take part in exciting adventures! Never played before? No problem! No prior experience with D&D is required and all the materials will be provided. Bring your own character or use one of our pre-made characters. Open to ages 12 and up. Registration is required.
