DIY Puzzle Piece Mosaics Saturday, August 2nd from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Create artwork out of puzzle pieces! During the DIY puzzle piece mosaic event, participants will use puzzle pieces to put together new art. Using the provided images or your imagination, you can cut and glue pieces onto a shadow box to show your artistry or love for puzzling. All materials will be provided, you only need to bring your creativity! Register here. 

The Yarn Darlings Wednesday, August 6th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join our fiber arts group. Bring your knitting, crocheting, needle punching, needle felting, or any other yarn craft to work on while socializing with other crafters. All skill levels are welcome. We can’t wait to see you there. Registration is requested for the group but not required. 

Silent Book Club Thursday, August 7th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Do you have trouble making time to read? Is your home full of distractions? Are you an introvert who still enjoys a chance to get out of the house? If any of these situations apply to you, come to a meeting of our own chapter of Silent Book Club. Bring a book of your own choosing, or pick out a new one at the library, and we’ll have an hour of silent reading time together. Light refreshments will also be provided, and you can also bring your own snacks or music to listen to (with headphones). Register here.

Financial Tools With Your Library Card Saturday, August 9th from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Your library card is a powerful tool for managing your money or building your business. In this session, we’ll explore free online resources available through the Trumbull Library that can help you research stocks, mutual funds, and companies; as well as find books and articles on starting or growing a small business. Our tools can help you make informed decisions —without paying for expensive subscriptions. Register here. 

Earwax Sessions: Vinyl & Coffee Sunday, August 10th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Earwax Sessions is a monthly listening club where we gather and share our favorite music with each other. You can bring a song and say something about it, or just chill and listen. No pressure. No performance. Free coffee and good people. Join us. Register here. 

Women & Money Roundtable Wednesday, August 13th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Join Financial Advisors Julia Strayer and Liz Maccarone as they host The Women and Money Roundtable. This series is a virtual, monthly financial literacy program designed to educate women of any age about the financial matters that affect their lives. The program provides information, resources and learning activities to educate and create a safe and welcoming place for women to learn, share their experiences, and ask questions. Register here. 

Hoop Fitness and Flow Saturday, August 16th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Hoop Fitness and Flow is a combination of all the most beautiful parts of hoop dance with a special fitness twist. A perfect place for any level to work on toning and core strengthening while also expressing their inner self through dance and movement. This energized class is designed for letting loose, finding your flow, and burning up to 500 calories in an hour. Hoops will fall, muscle memory will grow, and good times will be had! All hoops will be provided, and ALL levels are welcome. Join us!

Film Discussion Group Tuesday, August 19th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Love movies? Caught up on the latest shows on Netflix or Hulu? Join our film group lead by Film Critic Joe Meyers for lively conversations about films and hit television shows on streaming platforms. Register here.

Toddler Time (Walkers-Age 3) Monday, August 4th from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Come and join us for some music and movement at the library! We will sing, dance, and read together. This is a drop-in program. No registration required.

Preschool Time (Age 3-5) Monday, August 4th from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Ages 3-5. Join Miss Kristine for circle time, stories, and complete a simple craft. Registration is not required.

Toddler Time (Walkers-Age 3) Tuesday, August 5th from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Come and join us for some music and movement at the library! We will sing, dance, and read together. This is a drop-in program. No registration required.

Read with a Therapy Dog Tuesday, August 5th from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Drop in to the Merwin Room to read with Wilson.

Baby Time (Birth-walking) Wednesday, August 6th from 11 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. Ages birth to walking. Listen to a story, sing songs, and perform fingerplays. Registration is not required.

Preschool Time (Ages 3-5) Thursday, August 7th from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Join Miss Katie for circle time, stories, and complete a simple craft. Registration is not required. 

Truck-A-Palooza (Ages 2-5) Thursday, August 7th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. 

Trucks, trucks, trucks!! Bring your toy trucks and come and play! We will have roads to drive on, books about trucks, truck coloring pages, and a fun truck video to watch. Great for all little truck fans ages 2-5. Registration is suggested.

Miss Claudia Sings a Story Friday, August 8th from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Join Miss Claudia for a musical storytime! Ages 2-5. Younger/Older siblings welcome. Registration is not required. 

Bike Safety (Ages 2-10) Friday, August 8th from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In collaboration with the Trumbull Police Department, Parks & Rec, and the Trumbull BMX T.R.A.C.K. Bring your children between the ages of 2-10 to the BMX T.R.A.C.K. parking lot in Indian Ledge Park for a bike safety presentation and obstacle course. Bikes not provided. Each participant will need to bring their own bike and helmet. Registration is required.

Family Movie Night Saturday, August 9th from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Come and join us at the library for a fun family movie. We will watch Cars, rated PG. Please bring something comfy to sit on. Registration is suggested.

TEEN PROGRAMMING

Teen Speed Stacking Event Wednesday, August 6th from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. SportStacking has been termed a “track meet for your hands at warp speed.” It’s an exciting sport where students up stack and down stack 12 specially designed cups called Speed Stacks in predetermined sequences as fast as they can. Stackers race against the clock, compete in relays and often combine sport stacking with fitness challenges that exercise both the body and mind. Build your hand-eye coordination, reaction time, and other fine motor skills in this high energy event. For grades 6-12. Registration required.

Sharing Stitches Yarn Crafts Saturday, August 16th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. If you are in grades 4-8 and you enjoy crocheting, knitting, or other types if yarn/needle crafts, this is the group for you. Come and work on projects, compare styles, and chat. Some of the group is also available to help you learn some skills. No experience necessary. Registration is required. 

Level Up Your Presentations: Speaking Like a Boss Thursday, August 28th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tired of boring PowerPoints packed with text? So is your audience. In this workshop, you'll learn how to create slides that are clear, engaging, and visually effective. Register here.

Creator's Corner Drop In Wednesday, July 30th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Drop in and use our 3D printer to create! Ages 8 and up.

Video Game Club Night Monday, August 11th from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Do you like Nintendo Switch? Are you a pro at XBOX Series S? Have you ever wanted to try the Meta Universe? What about original video games that your parents played as kids? Join us at the Fairchild Nichols library and try them all! All neurodivergent and neurotypical tweens and teens welcome. Ages 11 to 17. Register here.

Random Adult Book Club Monday, August 18th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Come join us for a book club that is exactly that. “Hot Book” fiction, thrillers, mysteries, memoirs, sci-fi, non-fiction, chick lit... You never know what genre we will explore or rabbit hole we'll go down! Stop by Fairchild and pick up your copy today.
