Hoop Fitness and Flow Saturday, August 16th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Hoop Fitness and Flow is a combination of all the most beautiful parts of hoop dance with a special fitness twist. A perfect place for any level to work on toning and core strengthening while also expressing their inner self through dance and movement. This energized class is designed for letting loose, finding your flow, and burning up to 500 calories in an hour. Hoops will fall, muscle memory will grow, and good times will be had! All hoops will be provided, and ALL levels are welcome. Join us!

Just Write Peer Writing Group Tuesday, August 19th 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Considering a memoir? Dabbling in poetry? Composing essays? Join us at JUST WRITE – a welcoming group for adults who love putting words on the page. We share our work with fellow writers and offer positive, constructive feedback and encouragement. All types of writing are welcome: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, memoirs, blog posts, essays, and more. Our policy is to focus on the quality of the piece and not the content. Come to read, listen, and encourage your fellow scribblers! Registration is encouraged but not required.

The Yarn Darlings Wednesday, August 20th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join our fiber arts group. Bring your knitting, crocheting, needle punching, needle felting, or any other yarn craft to work on while socializing with other crafters. All skill levels are welcome. We can’t wait to see you there. Registration is requested for the group but not required.

Trumbull Eats - Salad Days Thursday, August 21st from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Trumbull Eats is our monthly series of cooking demonstrations. At each class, a library staff member will demonstrate making 2 or 3 foods according to a theme. Samples and copies of the recipes will be provided. Times and days will rotate to allow everyone a chance to attend. Let's beat the summer heat by making something that doesn't use the oven: a few different types of salad, including one that's hearty enough to be a meal. Register here.

Drop-in Tech Help Friday, August 29th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Feeling frustrated or simply in need of a quick tutorial? Drop-in tech help is available to assist you with less complex computer issues that require 15 -20 minutes of help. These sessions are educational in nature, and patrons should have a clear goal of what they would like to learn during their session.

The Merritt Parkway: Its History, Design & Legacy Thursday, September 4th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join us for a local history lecture with Laurie Heiss, co-author of The Merritt Parkway: The Road that Shaped a Region. Built between 1934 and 1940 to relieve congestion on the Boston Post Road, the Merritt Parkway became one of the first scenic highways in the United States designed specifically for automobiles. The Merritt Parkway blends utility with beauty, featuring graceful curves, bucolic landscaping, and a collection of distinct custom bridges. Heiss, a former Executive Director of the Merritt Parkway Conservancy, will delve into the Parkway’s planning and construction as well as the thousands of Depression-era workers who brought it to life. The talk will also explore how the Parkway shaped the development of Fairfield County, helping to turn towns like Trumbull into thriving suburban communities. Register here.

Toddler Time (Walkers-Age 3) Monday, August 18th from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Come and join us for some music and movement at the library! We will sing, dance, and read together. This is a drop-in program. No registration required.

Preschool Time (Age 3-5) Monday, August 18th from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Ages 3-5. Join Miss Kristine for circle time, stories, and complete a simple craft. Registration is not required.

Builders Brigade (Grade K-5) Monday, August 18th from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Elementary age kids can come and use their creativity to build something fun and unique using Lego blocks and Magna Tiles. All built items will remain at the library. This is a drop-in program. No registration required.

New Baby Meet-Up Tuesday, August 19th from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Bring your infant to the library for a casual meet-up with other new parents. A perfect opportunity to meet other new parents, chat, compare experiences, find parenting resources, and get out with your new baby. No registration required.

Baby Time (Birth-walking) Wednesday, August 20th from 11 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. Ages birth to walking. Listen to a story, sing songs, and perform fingerplays. Registration is not required.

Preschool Time (Ages 3-5) Thursday, August 21st from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Join Miss Katie for circle time, stories, and complete a simple craft. Registration is not required.

Miss Claudia Sings a Story Friday, August 22nd from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Join Miss Claudia for a musical storytime! Ages 2-5. Younger/older siblings welcome. Registration is not required.

Sharing Stitches Yarn Crafts Saturday, August 16th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. If you are in grades 4-8 and you enjoy crocheting, knitting, or other types if yarn/needle crafts, this is the group for you. Come and work on projects, compare styles, and chat. Some of the group is also available to help you learn some skills. No experience necessary. Registration is required.

Teen Bites: Superfoods 101 Saturday, September 6th from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Educational culinary workshop celebrating the powerhouses of nutrition and how to incorporate popular Superfoods into your life. Then, after the presentation, teens will get to make their own nut-free cacao bite. Handouts and recipes included to ensure an informative takeaway. Registration is required. Please only register teen participants. Supplies and space are limited, and activities are for youth group only. For grades 6 - 9.
