Adult Programming

Community Puzzle Swap Saturday, September 27th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Take a puzzle, leave a puzzle! Join us to swap out your old jigsaw puzzles for new-to-you puzzles. Puzzles must be 300 pieces or more, in good condition, with all pieces present. Please have the puzzle pieces inside a plastic bag in the box. 

Shakespeare’s Queens Sunday, September 28th from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Created and performed by Shakespearean actress, Poornima Kirby, this jewel of a play dances between Elizabeth’s story, and Shakespeare’s own life as a writer and father to two strong-minded daughters. With history, humor and sparkling poetry, Shakespeare’s Queens is a heartfelt and refreshing exploration of some of the bard’s loveliest verse. Register here. 

Adult Programming

Mah Jongg Open Play Wednesday, October 1st from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Play Mah Jongg! This is open game-play for players of all levels as long as you understand the basics of game play. The group will play with the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) 2025 card and rules. There will be no instruction, but some tables may be suitable for beginners. Register here.

The Yarn Darlings Wednesday, October 1st from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join our fiber arts group Bring your knitting, crocheting, needle punching, needle felting, or any other yarn craft to work on while socializing with other crafters. All skill levels are welcome. Registration is requested for the group but not required. 

Cookbook Swap Saturday, October 4th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In lieu of a cooking demo, this month we're having a cookbook swap. Join us to swap out your old cookbooks for new-to-you cookbooks used by other library patrons. Books must be in good condition without tears or stains. Registration is not required, but you can sign up to receive a reminder.

Sunday Concert: The Parkway Ramblers Sunday, October 5th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Parkway Ramblers deliver a high-energy and heartfelt performance of traditional bluegrass music. This talented ensemble creates a rich and dynamic soundscape with a wide array of acoustic instruments, including banjo, mandolin, acoustic guitar, bass, and harmonica. With their tight harmonies and lively pickin', they'll transport you straight to the heart of Appalachia for a show that is both authentic and unforgettable. Register here. 
EDIT Book Group Discussion/Banned Book Week Monday, October 6th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Join members of Trumbull's Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Task Force (EDIT) and Trumbull Library staff for a community conversation. For Banned Books Week we will discuss So You Want To Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo.

CHILDRENS

Toddler Time (Walkers-Age 3) Monday, September 29th from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Come and join us for some music and movement at the library! We will sing, dance, and read together. This is a drop-in program. No registration required.

Preschool Time (Age 3-5) Monday, September 29th from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Join Miss Kristine for circle time, stories, and complete a simple craft. Registration is not required.

Jurassic Classroom-How Do We Know? (Gr. 2-5) Monday, September 29th from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. How do we know about animals like T. Rex and Brontosaurus if no one has ever seen them before? Were dinosaurs really like they are in movies?  Students will tackle questions like these by looking at actual dinosaur fossils and utilizing the same skills as real paleontologists to separate the fact from the fiction when it comes to these extraordinary animals. Registration is required. Please register each attendee.

Baby Time (Birth-walking) Wednesday, October 1st from 11 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. Ages birth to walking. Listen to a story, sing songs, and perform fingerplays. Registration is not required.

Upcycled Crafternoon (Gr. 4-7) Wednesday, October 1st from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. If you are crafty and environmentally conscious, join us for this creative and un-structured art program. We will have an array of craft supplies, leftover from previous programs, and you can make whatever you want! Registration is encouraged due to space limitations.

Preschool Time (Ages 3-5) Thursday, October 2nd from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Join Miss Katie for circle time, stories, and complete a simple craft. Registration is not required. 

Miss Claudia Sings a Story Friday, October 3rd from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Join Miss Claudia for a musical storytime! Ages 2-5. Younger/Older siblings welcome. Registration is not required.

TEEN PROGRAMMING

DROP IN: Button Making Saturday, September 27th from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Drop into the Merwin Room to make a button pin! All supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring any stickers, or drawings you want turned into a button. This is a family program and registration is NOT required, but materials are first come, first serve.

Teen (P)SAT Exam Saturday, September 27th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Get the experience you need to succeed on test day by taking a full-length SAT practice test. You'll get an interactive score report to help you evaluate your strengths and weaknesses so you can start improving your score right away! This is and ONLINE only test - you can take it from the comfort of your own home! Register here. 

White Memorial Conservation: Animal Tricksters Saturday, October 4th from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sneaky, sneaky! Over time, certain animals have evolved unique adaptations to trick their foes. Using camouflage, warning colors, and downright cunning behaviors, these animals have found ways to survive in a competitive world. We’ll cover these various methods of trickery using native CT animals as examples. You’ll even get to meet a couple live ambassadors! This program is for teens in grades 6-12. Register here.

Lego Fun and Create a Snap Circuit Drop In Saturday, September 27th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join us for Lego Fun or Create a Snap Circuit. Master Builder Michael is back. Come show us what you can do! Ages 8 and up. 

Tiny Tales Tuesday, September 30th from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Come join Miss Niki for story time! We will have a little bit of stories a little bit of music and a show stopping craft. Please register with us online. Ages 2-4.

Autism and Parenting Monday, September 29th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join Jeremy Farrell and Fairchild Nichols Library in an educational presentation on autism, neurodiversity and parenting. This presentation is designed to give insights and strategies for parents of autistic individuals. Jeremy is an autistic individual himself and brings a very personal perspective, understanding and empathy to this presentation. Register here.

Creator's Corner Drop In Wednesday, October 1st from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Drop in and use our 3D printer to create! Ages 8 and up.
