Ghost Stories to Scare the Dickens Out of You Sunday, October 12th from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. In early Victorian England, ghost stories were told at Christmastime. The tradition of celebrating the dead at the end of October (now Halloween) had declined in England, but was still observed by the Irish and Scots, who brought it to America. In 1853, Charles Dickens began public readings of shortened versions of his books, and this event will carry on his story-reading traditions. Register here.

Tarot Cards for Fun, Fortune-Telling, or Finding Yourself Wednesday, October 15th from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Curious about Tarot but not sure where to start? This beginner-friendly workshop offers an approachable introduction, whether you want to use them for predicting the future, as a tool for secular self-reflection, or just entertainment. We'll explore different theories about how Tarot works (with or without magic), learn the basic meanings of the cards, and look at common spreads. You’ll get practical tips for interpreting readings, plus a chance to try out your own mini-readings, either solo or with a partner. No experience necessary, and we'll provide a variety of different Tarot decks to practice with. Register here.
