Community Puzzle Swap Saturday, January 17th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Take a puzzle, leave a puzzle! Join us to swap out your old jigsaw puzzles for new-to-you puzzles. Puzzles must be 300 pieces or more, in good condition, with all pieces present. Please have the puzzle pieces inside a plastic bag in the box. Registration is not required.

Navigating State Taxes: Tools, Updates, and Resources from the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services Wednesday, January 21st from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join us for an informative presentation led by a representative from the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services (DRS), offered just in time for tax season. This session will provide an overview of Connecticut state taxes, with a focus on filing and managing taxes online using the state’s MyconneCT system. Register here. 

Connecticut Museum presents: The Hartford Circus Fire Monday, January 27th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. In 1944, one of the worst fire disasters in American history occurred in Hartford. The circus fire has lived in the memories of survivors and the imaginations of Connecticans ever since. In this presentation, photos and artifacts from the Connecticut Museum’s collection will help tell the stories of that day. The presentation will examine the ways in which Connecticans have continued to identify, honor, and bring justice to the victims in the intervening decades. Register here.

Romantasy 101: a Creative Writing Workshop Wednesday, January 28th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Join author Lisa Acerbo and step into the vibrant world of romantasy, where magic, myth, and romance meet. This hands-on workshop explores what makes the genre so appealing to today’s readers and offers participants a chance to try their hand at creating memorable characters, incredible worlds, and wonderful magic systems. That's Life: Sinatra in 1966 featuring Jay Daniels Sunday, February 1st from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Step back into the swingin’ sound of 1966 as pianist and vocalist Jay Daniels pays tribute to Ol’ Blue Eyes in That’s Life: Sinatra in 1966. This concert features unforgettable selections from Frank Sinatra’s iconic albums That’s Life and Strangers in the Night, including hits like “Summer Wind,” “All or Nothing at All,” and, of course, “That’s Life.” Register here.

DIY Stationery Wednesday, January 28th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday, January 29th from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Planning to give a card to a loved one for Valentine's Day? Instead of impersonal store-bought cards, consider creating your own stationery. We’ll start with an assortment of blank cards and show you how to customize them with decorative tape, embossing, and other techniques. Everyone will end up with a few finished pieces to take home. If you have time to write a message inside, you can secure the envelope with a traditional wax seal.

EDIT Book Group Monday, February 2nd from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Join members of Trumbull's Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Task Force (EDIT) for a community conversation. This session we are reading and discussing Uncomfortable Conversations with a  Jew by Emmanuel Acho & Noa Tishby. Copies are available at the circulation desk. Register here.

Digital Basics: Android Smartphone Skills & Online Safety for Seniors Saturday, February 7th from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Join Dr. Bryan Terry - geriatrician, former RadioShack associate, and founder of Sensible Tech Tutors - for a friendly, hands-on workshop designed to help older adults feel more confident using their smartphones. Learn how to make calls, send texts, take and share photos, and navigate common apps. Dr. Terry will also cover essential online safety tips, including how to spot scams, avoid phishing emails, and protect your personal information. CHILDRENS

Minecraft Selfies Saturday, January 17th from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Make your own Minecraft Selfie using gridded paper and other art supplies! Create yourself in the Minecraft style, or a character! This project is for grades 3-5 and registration is required!

Toddler Time (Walkers-Age 3) Tuesday, January 20th from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Come and join us for some music and movement at the library! We will sing, dance, and read together. This is a drop-in program. No registration required. This program is held in the Community Room.

Baby Time (Birth-walking) Wednesday, January 21st from 11 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. Ages birth to walking. Listen to a story, sing songs, and perform fingerplays. Registration is not required.

Preschool Time (Ages 3-5) Thursday, January 22nd from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Join Miss Katie for circle time, stories, and complete a simple craft. Registration is not required.

Book Dragons Book Club (Gr. 1-2) Thursday, January 22nd from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. This month we will be discussing Henry, Like Always by Jenn Bailey. Copies of the book will be available for check-out at the Children's Desk at the Main Branch. Registration is encouraged. 

Miss Claudia Sings a Story Friday, January 23rd from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Join Miss Claudia for a musical storytime! Ages 2-5. Younger/older siblings welcome. Registration is not required.

TEEN PROGRAMMING

Teen Meditation & Sound Bath Thursday, January 22nd from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. We are so happy that you can join us for this relaxing sound bath at the library. Take a step back from the stress of your midterms with this meditative exercise. A sound bath uses gongs and Himalayan singing bowls to help you relax, refocus, and reset. To have the best experience please dress comfortably, bring a yoga mat and/or a blanket. If you feel more comfortable sitting, you may bring a folding or zero gravity chairs instead. Registration is required. For Grades 8 - 12.

Teen R&R Monday, January 26th from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. In this program, teens will be encouraged to relax with a variety of low-key activities each session. These activities will change each month but may include coloring pages, Lego blocks, simple crafts, etc. Snacks will be provided. Registration is required. Please register teen participant(s) only. Supplies and space are limited, and activities are for youth age group only. For Grades 6 - 12.

Tiny Tales 2s, 3s, and 4s Tuesday, January 13th from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Come join us for story time! We will have a little bit of stories a little bit of music and a show stopping craft. Register here. Ages 2-4.

Creator's Corner Drop-in Wednesday, January 14th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Drop in and use our 3D printer to create! Ages 8 and up.

cARTie Museum Bus Story Time Monday, January 28th from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Come join the cARTie Crew for a magical museum story time adventure. Expect to learn about different ways of looking at and enjoying art through song, movement, artmaking, exploration, and stories. Children ages 2-5.
