Digital Basics: Android Smartphone Skills & Online Safety for Seniors Saturday, February 7th from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Join Dr. Bryan Terry - geriatrician, former RadioShack associate, and founder of Sensible Tech Tutors - for a friendly, hands-on workshop designed to help older adults feel more confident using their smartphones. Learn how to make calls, send texts, take and share photos, and navigate common apps. Dr. Terry will also cover essential online safety tips, including how to spot scams, avoid phishing emails, and protect your personal information. Cass Gilbert: American Architect Tuesday, February 17th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Join The Bowtie Historian, Dr. Jason Scappaticci, and learn about American Architect Cass Gilbert. Gilbert designed some of the most famous buildings of early twentieth century America. He was one of the first celebrity architects in the United States. His buildings include the Woolworth Building and the United States Supreme Court. Register here.

The Spotted Lanternfly: Connecticut's Uninvited Guest Wednesday, February 18th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The spotted lanternfly has become impossible to miss in Connecticut, turning up on trees, patios, and cars across the state. Join Dr. Gale Ridge, director of the Insect Information Office at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station and one of the nation’s leading entomologists, for an informative presentation about this fast-spreading invasive species. Dr. Ridge will discuss how the lanternfly arrived in the United States, how it spreads and reproduces, and what each of us can do to reduce its impact. Learn how to identify the insect at every stage of its life cycle and get practical advice for protecting the plants and trees in your own backyard. Register here. 

Connecticut Food & Wine: A History Thursday, February 19th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Join authors and University of Bridgeport professors Eric D. Lehman and Amy Nawrocki for a discussion on the History of Connecticut Food and Wine. This presentation is for every food lover who appreciates the story behind a meal, every wine-lover who wants to know the local secrets, and for every budding chef who longs for the recipes of favorite local dishes. Toddler Time (Walkers-Age 3) Monday, February 9th from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Come and join us for some music and movement at the library! We will sing, dance, and read together. This is a drop-in program. No registration required.

Preschool Time (Age 3-5) Monday, February 9th from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Ages 3-5. Join Miss Kristine for circle time, stories, and complete a simple craft. Registration is not required.

Builders Brigade (Gr. K-5) Monday, February 9th from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Elementary age kids can come and use their creativity to build something fun and unique using Lego blocks and Magna Tiles. All built items will remain at the library. This is a drop-in program. No registration required.

Toddler Time (Walkers-Age 3) Tuesday, February 10th from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Come and join us for some music and movement at the library! We will sing, dance, and read together. This is a drop-in program. No registration required. This program is held in the Community Room.

Baby Time (Birth-walking) Wednesday, February 11th from 11 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. Ages birth to walking. Listen to a story, sing songs, and perform fingerplays. Registration is not required.

Preschool Time (Ages 3-5) Thursday, February 12th from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Join Miss Katie for circle time, stories, and complete a simple craft. Registration is not required.

PJ Story Time (Ages 3-6) Thursday, February 13th from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Put on your PJs, bring your favorite stuffed animal, and join Miss Kristine for story time and coloring! Ages 3-6. Registration is suggested.

Miss Claudia Sings a Story Friday, February 13th from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Join Miss Claudia for a musical storytime! Ages 2-5. Younger/Older siblings welcome. Registration is not required.

TEEN PROGRAMMING

Teen Bites: Cannolis Saturday, February 14th from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Join us as MyProductions presenter, Matt Yanarella, teaches us how to create homemade cannolis. Make them for yourself or share with a special someone. Registration is required.

Teen Tiny Book Workshop Wednesday, February 18th from 5:30 p.m. What’s better than your favorite book? A tiny version of your favorite book! Teens in grades 6th-9th will get to create 1.5-inch replicas of popular books that they can then turn into keychains, jewelry, or other items. Registration is required. 

Fairchild Nichols

Creator's Corner Drop In Wednesday, February 11th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Drop in and use our 3D printer to create! Ages 8 and up.

Mighty Aphrodite Wednesday, February 11th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join Fairchild Nichols Library and Kim Larkin for a program celebrating love, friendship and fun romantic duos throughout history and of course, the love of chocolate! Aphrodite's mocktail spritzer will be served along with chocolate and choc. dipped treats. Fun poetry and interactive trivia make this a class to love. Adults only. Register here.
