COVID-19 Home Test Kit Distribution Update

Coronavirus Info

1/1/22 COVID-19 Home Test Kit Distribution Update

Good Afternoon and Happy New Year,

This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro with an important Covid-19 home test kit distribution update:

Late last night the town took delivery from the State of Connecticut of the Covid-19 home test kits. The number of tests we received are less than we originally expected.

The town will distribute these test kits tomorrow, Sunday, January 2nd at Unity Park from 9 AM to Noon to those individuals who previously signed up to reserve a kit. One kit per household will be strictly enforced

You must be on the reservation list and must have a town ID in order to receive your kit.

Please arrive anytime between 9 AM and Noon. If you reserved a kit, we have one for you and you do not need to arrive right at 9:00 AM.

We ask for your patience and understanding through the distribution process. We anticipate extended wait times.

Again, distribution of these kits will only be for those who previously registered. At this time, we do not have any extra kits available.

To locate a testing center, Search COVID-19 Test Centers by Zip Code:

Residents who have not been vaccinated should get their COVID-19 vaccine now and can do so by visiting https://portal.ct.gov/Vaccine-Portal

For all vaccinated people 16 and older that are eligible for a booster, please get one as soon as possible.

For all school-age children 5 and older that are not vaccinated yet, please use this school break to get vaccinated. Vaccination saves lives and keeps people who get COVID out of the hospital.

Places to receive your vaccination and booster:

COVID-19 boosters are in high demand. If you have trouble finding an appointment, you can visit one of the many CT DPH mobile walk-up clinics without an appointment: https://portal.ct.gov/vaccine-portal/DPH-Van-Clinics?language=en_US

For more information on vaccinations and boosters, visit  https://portal.ct.gov/Vaccine-Portal?language=en_US

Please continue to follow the CDC guidelines that recommend wearing a mask in public indoor settings regardless of vaccination status. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/variants/omicron-variant.html

Please stay safe and stay well.

 Thanks for listening.

1/1/22 Update on the COVID-19 Home Test Kits due from the State of Connecticut

Last night we received a partial shipment from the State of Connecticut of our COVID-19 Home Test Kits.

The number of tests we received are less than we originally expected.

I will be making a call to the community shortly about the distribution plan for those who registered for a kit.

The Town website and Facebook page will also be updated with this plan.

Thank you for your continued patience.

First Selectman Tesoro

12/30/21 Update, 10:00 AM

Good Morning,

This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro with an important COVID-19 update.

The shipment of the COVID-19 rapid test kits to Connecticut is still delayed. Unfortunately, we must cancel today’s delivery of the kits to the community due to the shipping delays.

As soon as we receive confirmation of the arrival of the shipment, we will set up a new delivery date.

Your reservation still holds. There is no action you need to take at this time.

Again, I appreciate your patience. I will let you know as soon as we have more information.

Thanks for listening.

12/29/21 Update, 7:00 PM

Good Evening,

This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro with a COVID-19 Test Kit update.

As you may have heard through media coverage, Governor Lamont has issued a statement that the home COVID-19 tests that were scheduled to arrive in the State of Connecticut today are delayed. At this time, we do not know when they will arrive in the State. Trumbull stands by ready to receive the home kits at any time and to distribute them to the community.

Please rest assured if you have registered for a home test kit through the link on the Town website your kit is still reserved. You do not need to take any further action. At this time, the registration is full.

I will be making another phone call tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM with an update to let everyone know if we will be distributing the home test kits tomorrow or an alternate date. I will also post this information on the Town website.

Currently, this situation is in the hands of the State. I share your frustration. However, I urge everyone to be patient and I will keep you informed as more information becomes available.

Thanks for listening.
