Friends of the Trumbull Library Board Meeting Thursday, June 6th from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. This is a regular meeting of the Friends of the Trumbull Library Board.  All are invited to attend.  The Friends are a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission to advocate and raise funds for the Trumbull Library. You’ll Do: Marcia Zug Event Sunday, June 9th from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. As June kicks off wedding season, what better time to explore the fascinating history and evolution of marriage in America? In her latest book, You’ll Do: A History of Marrying for Reasons Other Than Love, author Marcia Zug takes us on a journey through the twists and turns of matrimony in the United States. From arranged marriages to modern-day romance, Zug unpacks the legal and social frameworks that have shaped our understanding of love and commitment and illuminates the complex interplay between love, law, and societal expectations. Women & Money Roundtable Wednesday, June 12th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Join Financial Advisors Julia Strayer and Liz Maccarone as they host The Women and Money Roundtable. This series is a virtual, monthly financial literacy program designed to educate women of any age about the financial matters that affect their lives. The program provides information, resources and learning activities to educate and create a safe and welcoming place for women to learn, share their experiences, and ask questions. SCORE: Sales & Marketing Workshop Thursday, June 13th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Do you ever recall meeting someone at a social function, child’s sporting event, on a plane, at a trade show, at the dog park, or in an elevator who (in casual conversation) asked you “Who are you and what do you do?” If so, do you recall making a memorable response that left the asker with an understanding of what you do and with a compelling reason to contact you when they have a need for your product/service? In this hands-on workshop we will help you identify or create a compelling reason for these 'prospects' to call and incent them to choose you over a competitor. Register here.

Book Dragons Book Club Monday, June 3rd from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Book Dragons Book Club is for kids in grades 1 and 2. This month we are reading The Magnificent Makers #1: How to Test a Friendship by Theanne Griffith. Read the book on your own and then join us at the library for a fun discussion, related activity, and snack.* First 10 kids to register may pick up a library copy of the book to borrow at the desk in the Children's Department. Register here.

Chapter Chatter Book Club Tuesday, June 4th from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Join Miss Katie for the new 3-5 grade book club, Chapter Chatter! We will meet monthly on Tuesdays at 6PM to discuss that month's pick. The first ten children registered may pick up a library copy of that month's pick! Mini Artists Friday, June 7th from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. A creative and messy art class where we focus on the process rather than the finished product. Ages 3-5. Registration is required. Please only register for the amount of little ones participating, not the adult!

Toddler Time for 2s & 3s Monday, June 3rd from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Toddler time is now drop in! Join Ms. Chelsie in person for stories, songs, and dances. Ages 2-3. 

Baby Time Tuesday, June 4th from 11 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. Ages birth to 2. Listen to a story, sing songs, and perform fingerplays. Registration is not required.

TEEN PROGRAMMING

Beginners Video Game Workshop Friday, June 21st from 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Teens will learn how to use the video game creation engine Bitsy. Registration is for all 5 meetings. Please be sure you can attend every meeting before signing up – each class will build upon previous lessons with the final session being play testing of your finished games! You must bring your own laptop. For ages 12-18. Register here.

Book Talk: Connecticut Architecture: Stories of 100 Places Wednesday, June 26th from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Understanding and appreciating Connecticut’s built environment is at the center of Preservation Connecticut’s mission.  A new book, Connecticut Architecture: Stories of 100 Places demonstrates the diversity of Connecticut architecture and the many ways our buildings express the lives and ideals of their creators and users. Authored by Preservation Connecticut Deputy Director Christopher Wigren, this book promises to be an important resource for years to come. In his guide, Wigren introduces readers – visitors and residents alike – to 100 places that reflect the diversity of Connecticut. Registration required, ages 12 and up.
