EDIT Book Group Discussion Monday, September 30th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. For National Banned Book Week, join members of Trumbull's Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Task Force (EDIT) for a community conversation. They will discuss Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe. Copies of book are still available at the Circulation Desk. Register here. 

Meet the Chef: Melissa from Marianna's Pantry Wednesday, October 2nd from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Leading up to Trumbull Restaurant Week, join us for a special program featuring Melissa Cotto, co-owner of Marianna's Pantry. The restaurant serves specialty coffees, breakfast, lunch and take out dinners, all made with fresh local ingredients. She'll talk about how she got into the food industry, answer questions, and demonstrate a recipe. Register here. 

The Yarn Darlings Wednesday, October 2nd from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join our fiber arts group The Yarn Darlings! We will meet every other Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Bring your knitting, crocheting, needle punching, needle felting, or any other yarn craft to work on while socializing with other crafters. All skill levels are welcome. We can’t wait to see you there. Registration is requested for the group but not required. 

UConn Master Gardeners: Sustainable Methods of Putting the Garden to Bed Thursday, October 3rd from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. What is the best way to clean up your backyard in the Fall? More important, what is the best way to clean up your backyard for pollinators that take refuge there over the winter? Join advanced master gardener, Michele MacKinnon, who will share tips on what to cut down and what to leave, how to properly recycle and compost the last greens as the garden prepares for its long winter nap. Register here. 
Intro to Tarot Cards Thursday, October 3rd from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This workshop will serve as a basic introduction to reading and interpreting tarot cards. We'll cover basic tarot theory, card meanings, and different spreads. You'll also learn tips for interpreting the cards and uses for tarot beyond fortune-telling. Drop in, registration not required.

Cookbook Swap Friday, October 4th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. In recognition of Trumbull Restaurant Week, we're having a cookbook swap! Join us to swap out your old cookbooks for new-to-you cookbooks used by other library patrons. Books must be in good condition without tears or stains.

Toddler Time for (Ages 2-3) Monday, September 30th from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Toddler time is now drop in! Join Ms. Chelsie in person for stories, songs, and dances. Ages 2-3.

Baby Time Tuesday, October 1st from 11 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. Ages birth to 2. Listen to a story, sing songs, and perform fingerplays. Registration is not required.

Chapter Chatter Book Club Tuesday, October 1st from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Join Miss Katie for the new 3-5 grade book club, Chapter Chatter! We will meet monthly on Tuesdays to discuss that month's pick. The first ten children registered may pick up a library copy of that month's pick! October's pick is Mrs. Smith’s Spy School for Girls by Beth McMullen. Register here.

Mini Artists Friday, October 4th from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. A creative and messy art class where we focus on the process rather than the finished product. Ages 3-5. Registration is required. 

Halloween Craft Night Wednesday, October 9th from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Celebrate Halloween early with some fun, spooky crafts! Ages 5-11. Registration is required.

TEEN PROGRAMMING

Horror(ble) Boardgames Saturday, October 5th from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Join us for a series of spooky-season themed boardgames: Betrayal at House on the Hill & Mysterium. Games will deal with horror elements; for ages 13-17 only. Registration is required.

Teen ArtClub Wednesday, October 9th from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. During art club, teens will have the option to either work on a special art project that will be determined each month or they can bring in their own personal projects from home. Teens are encouraged, but not required, to bring their sketch books to share with other members. For teens ages 12-17.

Spooky Trinket Boxes Saturday, October 19th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Join Artist Deb Jaffe for a fun creative class where each participant will make their own spooky Halloween-themed box from polymer clay. Deb will guide even the least confident through making a keepsake box to store tiny trinkets. All materials provided. Registration required. For ages 12-16.

Create and Take Halloween Craft Tuesday, October 1st Drop in every week during the month of October to create a Halloween craft. Pick up your bag and make your craft here or take it home. This week’s craft: Paper plate witches

Fairchild Storytime (Ages 2-4) Tuesday, October 1st from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Come join Miss Niki for story time! We will have a little bit of stories a little bit of music and a show stopping craft. Registration required. Ages 2-4. 

Connecticut Architecture: Stories of 100 Places Wednesday, October 2nd from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Understanding and appreciating Connecticut’s built environment is at the center of Preservation Connecticut’s mission.  A new book, Connecticut Architecture: Stories of 100 Places demonstrates the diversity of Connecticut architecture and the many ways our buildings express the lives and ideals of their creators and users. Authored by Preservation Connecticut Deputy Director Christopher Wigren, this book promises to be an important resource for years to come. In his guide, Wigren introduces readers – visitors and residents alike – to 100 places that reflect the diversity of Connecticut. Registration required, ages 16 and up.
