Trumbull Eats - You Want a Pizza Me? Tuesday, May 13th from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Trumbull Eats is our monthly series of cooking demonstrations. At each class, a library staff member will demonstrate making 2 or 3 foods according to a theme. Samples and copies of the recipes will be provided. Times and days will rotate to allow everyone a chance to attend. Learn how you can come up with endless tasty variations on pizza, just by changing an ingredient or two, as well as some handy shortcuts. Register here. 

Grow An Organic Vegetable Garden Wednesday, May 14th from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Join the Trumbull Library as Michele MacKinnon presents organic methods to grow your own healthy food. This informative talk is crammed with ideas and practical steps for creating a garden for the first time and improving on existing efforts. Learn the importance of location, planting techniques, ongoing care and timing harvests for peak freshness. The best grocery store just might be outside your door! Women & Money Roundtable Wednesday, May 14th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Join Financial Advisors Julia Strayer and Liz Maccarone as they host The Women and Money Roundtable. This series is a virtual, monthly financial literacy program designed to educate women of any age about the financial matters that affect their lives. The program provides information, resources and learning activities to educate and create a safe and welcoming place for women to learn, share their experiences, and ask questions. The Yarn Darlings Wednesday, May 14th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Join our fiber arts group The Yarn Darlings! Bring your knitting, crocheting, needle punching, needle felting, or any other yarn craft to work on while socializing with other crafters. All skill levels are welcome. We can’t wait to see you there. Registration is requested for the group but not required. 

How to Win Online Arguments Thursday, May 15th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The internet is full of debates, but not all arguments are fought with facts and logic. In this presentation, we’ll break down common debate and misinformation tactics (and how to respond to them), explore logical fallacies (and how to avoid falling for them), and learn how to critically evaluate online information. Whether you're battling bad takes on social media or just trying to have more productive discussions, we'll give you the tools to navigate online discourse with confidence. This presentation will be given in a non-political context. All argument/debate examples will use fictional or low-stakes topics. Register here. 

“Let’s Move!” Friends' Fundraiser Dance Class with Maria Cherniske Saturday, May 17th from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. This dynamic one-hour class will start with a warm up that includes basic grooves, dance steps, and movements that encourage mobility (stretching). Maria will teach a few "line" dances to help participants get the hang of remembering step sequences and putting them to music. During the final portion of the class, participants will learn a short piece of fun choreography to bring together what was taught throughout. Come ready to sweat and smile! This class is for adults ages 18 and up. Please wear comfortable, supportive sneakers.  The cost of the class is $20 per person. Pre-registration is required. As with all Friends fundraising, all proceeds go directly to the library.

Job Search Tools With Your Library Card Saturday, May 17th from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Need help writing your resume, preparing for an interview, or searching for the right job? We’ll demonstrate the online job search tools that you can get from the Trumbull Library System website.
Rails to Back Trails: Trumbull Bike Tour Sunday, May 18th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local Trumbull Historian Sue Del Bianco will take cyclists back in time to when train was king in the Trumbull Valley. Sue will be stopping off at many historical points-of-interest along the rail-trail: a cow tunnel, site of a train wreck, remains of an amusement park, a mill, a mining company, two train stations, and a reputed witch's gravesite. Please meet at Tait Rd. Parking Lot. If you are local, we encourage you to bike to the meeting location as parking can become an issue. Register here. 

New Muse Productions presents: King Lear Sunday, May 18th from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. What do you call a king who gives up his kingdom? A fool? Or a father ready to pass on the burdens of power? Join actors Stephen Collins and Poornima Kirby for this haunting, darkly funny adaptation of Shakespeare’s timeless classic. This one-hour production draws directly from Shakespeare’s text, with Stephen Collins as the mercurial King Lear, and Poornima Kirby as his devoted, clear-eye fool, who narrates the action, and flows fluidly between Lear’s daughters, friends, enemies. Mother’s Day Crafternoon Saturday, May 10th from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Drop in to make a Mother's Day card with Miss Katie! All material provided. All ages welcome. Registration is NOT required.

Miss Claudia Sings a Story Friday, May 16th from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Join Miss Claudia for a musical storytime! Ages 2-5. Younger/Older siblings welcome. Registration is not required.

Builders Brigade (Gr. K-5) Monday, May 19th from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Elementary age kids can come and use their creativity to build something fun and unique using Lego blocks and Magna Tiles. All built items will remain at the library. This is a drop-in program. No registration required.

Ocean Craft Night Tuesday, May 20th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Join us for some ocean themed crafts! Ages 3-6. Registration is required. Please register only the child(ren) participating, not the adult.

Whole Book Story Time (Gr. K-2) Wednesday, May 21st from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Join us to take a deep dive into a picture book from cover to endpaper. This month we will be exploring the amazing The Dictionary Story by Oliver Jeffers and Sam Winston. We will talk about the choices the creators made, learn some publishing terms, and more!

Book Dragons Book Club Wednesday, May 21st from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Book Dragons Book Club is for kids in grades 1 and 2. This month we are reading School For Magical Monsters: Rise of Pegasus by Joan Holub and Suzanne Williams. Read the book on your own and then join us at the library for a fun discussion, related activity, and snack. First 10 kids to register may pick up a library copy of the book to borrow at the desk in the Children's Department.

TEEN PROGRAMMING

Middle Grade Study Strategies Tuesday, May 13th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Does your child struggle with test taking? Worried about upcoming finals? Join us as C2 Education presents this program on studying tips and tricks & effective note taking skills. There will also be a Q&A session at the end of the presentation. This program is for grades 5-8 and their guardians. Registration is requested. 

Teen ArtClub Wednesday, May 14th from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. During art club, teens will have the option to either work on a special art project that will be determined each month or they can bring in their own personal projects from home. Teens are encouraged, but not required, to bring their sketch books to share with other members. For teens ages 12-17. Register here. 

How to Build Your College Profile Wednesday, May 21st from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Join us as Collegewise counselor Matt Doyle discusses how college applications are evaluated, and some tips and tricks to help boost your academic and extracurricular profiles throughout high school. This program is geared toward high school students and their parents/guardians. Registration is requested for email reminders. 

Sharing Stitches Yarn Crafts Group (Grades 6-8) Saturday, May 24th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. If you are in middle school and you enjoy crocheting and/or knitting, this is the group for you. Come and work on projects, compare styles, and chat. Registration is required. Each participant must register.

Fairchild FAMILY Storytime Saturday, May 10th from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Come join Miss Niki for a little bit of stories, a little bit of music, and a little bit of playtime. Drop In. Ages 2-7. Siblings Welcomed!
iPhone, Android, iPad, Laptop...OH MY! Saturday, May 10th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Do you have a love hate relationship with your devices? Do you wish they were as easy to use as you thought they would be? Drop in and have our tech "guru" help you set up, delete, or just answer any questions you might have. All Ages. Drop in, registration not required.

The cARTIE Museum Bus Monday, May 12th from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Come join us for "Art in Springtime". Make your own bouquets of art. Tour the bus to see where the works of art in your bouquets are "blossoming up" and ending with a story about springtime. K-3rd grade. Please register with us online.   

Video Game Club Night Monday, May 12th from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Do you like Nintendo Switch? Are you a pro at XBOX Series S? Have you ever wanted to try the Meta Universe? What about original video games that your parents played as kids? Join us at the Fairchild Nichols library and try them all!  All neurodivergent and neurotypical tweens and teens welcome. Tiny Tales 2s, 3s and 4s Tuesday, May 13th from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Come join Miss Niki for story time! We will have a little bit of stories a little bit of music and a show stopping craft. Registration required. Ages 2-4.

Journaling with Jane Saturday, May 17th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This workshops include a variety of writing prompts, mindfulness techniques, and creative exercises to encourage self-expression and personal exploration. Through group discussions and a welcoming atmosphere, participants connect with like-minded individuals, share experiences, and embark on a collective journey of self-discovery. Many leave the workshops with a newfound sense of clarity about journal writing and the confidence to begin or renew their journal writing practice. Adults only, register here. 

Namaste Yoga for "Littles" Wednesday, May 21st from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Join Krista Boyer for a fun, interactive yoga class for children ages 3 to 6. Bring a mat or towel, bring a water bottle, wear your comfortable clothes and join us for a "zen" 45 minutes of relaxation for your little ones and their caregivers. No previous yoga experience required. Please register with us online.
