A Message From First Selectman Vicki A. TesoroThe 2026–2027 town budget was approved by the Town Council on May 4, 2026. There were no substantial changes to my original budget or the budget approved by the Board of Finance on March 24, 2026. The mill rate for the 2026–2027 fiscal year will be set on June 4, 2026 by the Board of Finance. Tax Bills will be sent out in late June. Municipal budgeting continues to be challenging for every Connecticut community due to rising costs that we do not control. Although Trumbull recently received supplemental educational aid from the State of Connecticut that additional funding fell short of our needs. I will continue to fight for more educational funding as I have done over the last eight years. Thank you to all our citizens that joined me this year in that advocacy. Nevertheless, we must continue to fund all our critical town services, including public safety, education, senior tax relief, and many other services the town provides to our residents and businesses. Please join us on Monday, May 25 for our annual Memorial Day celebrations. This is the official kickoff of our town's 250th celebration of America! These celebrations will continue throughout the summer with many special events, including our annual reading of the Declaration of Independence on Saturday, July 4. More information about these events can be found on our town website and within this newsletter. Please enjoy all the wonderful summer recreation opportunities the town offers including our pools, splash pads, pickleball and tennis courts, our award-winning municipal golf course, parks, trails, summer concerts for kids and adults, the farmers market and so much more! Please sign up if you have not done so for emergency and community information on Trumbull Citizen Alert. Receive alerts about emergencies and other important community news from the Town of Trumbull by signing up. Click here to go to the town website, click on the Trumbull Citizen alert button and follow the prompts. I hope everyone has a safe and fun summer! As always please reach out to me with any questions or concerns.

Economic & Community Development News

Economic and Community Development UpdateHenkel Corporation Henkel Corporation is investing in Trumbull with a $70 million expansion, its largest non-manufacturing investment in North America in over a decade. Located at 9 Trefoil Drive, Henkel will build a new Center of Research and Development, which will consist of three separate buildings with over 110,000 square feet of interior space on over 10 acres of land. Henkel's major expansion follows its $20 million investment in Trumbull in 2018. This is exciting news for our town, as this brings high quality jobs and significant grand list growth to our community. The new facility will be home to more than 200 employees in 27 different laboratories and 3 pilot plants. The projected date for opening is in late 2027, and the campus will include a cafeteria, EV charging stations, and outdoor workspaces. Trumbull is happy to be home to this new Henkel facility and we look forward to a strong relationship with them in the years to come. Crossing at Pequonnock At the Trumbull/Monroe Border, the Crossing at Pequonnock is set to break ground in June. Sewer infrastructure work for this project, formerly known as Gateway Commons, is underway. This exciting project brings 88,000 square feet of mixed development space to the border of the two towns on Route 25. 61% will be in Trumbull, and 39% will be in Monroe. It will also include 28,000 square feet of new commercial space for restaurants and service-related businesses. Trumbull has been working collaboratively with Monroe on this project for over five years, and it will bring new grand list growth to our town. The development includes sidewalk connections and a link to the Pequonnock River Trail is being explored. Trumbull is pleased to be working with New England Coastal Development Group, and we look forward to seeing this come to fruition. Kubtec Kubtec, a global medical imaging company, is moving their operations from Stratford to Trumbull to facilitate their rapid growth. They have purchased 75 Merritt Boulevard in Trumbull Corporate Park for $3.7 million. This allows them to expand from their current 21,000 square feet in Stratford to over 110,000 square feet in Trumbull. This will bring 40 new employees to Trumbull and allow for growth in good paying jobs in the years ahead as well as future expansion for Kubtec. Design is underway, and construction is slated to start this summer. This will transform this long vacant building and add to our grand list. We welcome Kubtec to Trumbull! Baco Enterprises The site of the former Trumbull Printing Company at 205 Spring Hill Road has been sold to a Bronx manufacturer, Baco, Enterprises. This company adds to our growing list of manufacturers in Trumbull. Baco Enterprises makes construction fasteners for bridges and tunnels. This 57,000 square-foot facility was purchased for $6.5 million dollars. The property previously sold for $4.4 million dollars in 2022. Trumbull Mall As many people know, the Trumbull Mall was officially listed for sale in January 2026. Since then, there has been strong interest in the property, and the mall will remain in receivership as the sale process moves forward. The broker’s listing materials highlight the recently completed land use study, the Planning & Zoning rezoning efforts, and the significant opportunities for future growth throughout the entire mall area. Additional updates will be shared once the property is sold, and the new ownership is publicly announced.

Recycling Contamination Update: Don’t Get Left BehindThank you to everyone who reviewed the January recycling message in the First Selectman’s Newsletter. Here’s a quick recap: • Recycling loads with 10% or more unacceptable items are considered contaminated and result in added fees to the Town. • Common contaminants include plastic bags, styrofoam, textiles, tanglers, bagged recyclables, and items with food residue. • Follow the “What’s In, What’s Out” guidelines, keep items loose, rinse containers, and flatten cardboard. State Enforcement Update Connecticut has increased enforcement of contamination standards, and curbside recycling may not be collected if the contents are visibly contaminated.
