Veterans Ceremony Held A ceremony was held on August 26 at Madison Middle School to honor Korean-era and Vietnam-era veterans. The ceremony was organized by Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Connecticut Commissioner of Veterans Affairs Ronald Welch, and Trumbull First Selectman Vicki Tesoro. Veterans were invited to speak about their experiences, and they were awarded citations from Lieutenant Governor Bysiewicz and a pin for Vietnam-era veterans or a certificate of appreciation for Korean-era veterans from Commissioner Welch. It was a beautiful ceremony honoring so many who sacrificed so much for our country.

Connecticut Coastal Cleanup in Twin Brooks ParkPlease join Sustainable Trumbull in Twin Brooks Park on Sunday, September 22 from 9-11 am for a cleanup event with our Save the Sound partners. Gloves and bags will be provided. Come for all or some of the event. Great opportunity for student community service hours. Registration is requested! Click here to register: https://www.savethesound.org/.../2024-coastal-cleanup/ The Connecticut Cleanup is a state-wide effort hosted by Save the Sound as part of Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup. This global event, which occurs on International Coastal Cleanup Day in mid-September, has motivated over 11.5 million people around the world to pick up over 210 million pounds of trash from nearly 390,000 miles of shoreline. Join the CT Cleanup to help us continue this effort and stop trash in its tracks! Please note that large groups may be directed to alternate locations to cleanup various sites around town. As always, you may choose to cleanup trash around Trumbull any day, time, and location of your choosing. We kindly ask that you log your cleanup efforts using the Clean Swell app so we can track what types and how much trash our residents are collecting to better formulate remediation efforts and programs. Beach Pool Sprinkler Park Project As soon as the 2024 summer pool and sprinkler park season ended, work began on the replacement of the Beach Pool Sprinkler Park. The existing sprinkler park was over 25 years old and in need of replacement, so the Town allocated American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to install a new sprinkler park. Work is proceeding well, and we expect to have the new sprinkler park open by Memorial Day 2025.

Community Forum on New Hillcrest Middle School Project -- September 25 at 7:30 p.m.The Town of Trumbull and the Trumbull Board of Education invite you to a COMMUNITY FORUM at Hillcrest Middle School, 530 Daniels Farm Road, in the cafetorium on Wednesday, September 25 at 7:00 p.m. Please join us for a presentation of the new Hillcrest Middle School project. The financial impact of the proposed project will also be discussed. Tours of Hillcrest will be offered after the presentation. This Community Forum is open to the entire Trumbull community. The Board of Finance and Town Council approved a bond authorization in the amount of $142,375,000 for the construction of the new school. However, the actual cost of the project will be much less than the bonding request. Due to special legislation approved by the state legislature this past spring, the Hillcrest project will receive a 44% reimbursement rate, which is above the standard reimbursement rate of 24.29%. This is a potential significant cost savings of approximately $28 million for Trumbull taxpayers. However, the Trumbull voters must approve the referendum question, which will be on the November 5, 2024 general election ballot, in order for the project to move forward. Please come to the Community Forum on September 25 to learn more about this project and its financial impact.
