  • Student vaccination rates in Trumbull continue to increase.
  • There are many students who are ineligible or unable to be vaccinated.  Teaching your children how to protect themselves is important to help reduce the spread of the virus.  Frequent handwashing, wearing a mask that covers your nose and mouth, and maintaining social distance is important.
  • The COVID-19 vaccine does not prevent disease.  It does, however, reduce the severity of the disease causing fewer hospitalizations and death.
  • COVID-19 vaccinations are available at the Trumbull Health Department. Both the Moderna vaccine (approved for those 18 and older) and Pfizer vaccine (approved for those 12 and older) are available.  Call 203-638-5230 for an appointment today if you are interested.
  • At this time, vaccinations are the most effective strategy in combating this illness.  Consider getting vaccinated today!

Additional Dose and Booster Dose Vaccinations

  • On Friday, August 13, 2021, the ACIP approved administration of an additional dose of Moderna and Pfizer vaccine for MODERATELY TO SEVERELY immunocompromised individuals.  An additional dose of vaccine is a dose administered when the immune response to a standard primary vaccine series is likely not be protective.
  •  People are considered moderately to severely immunocompromised if they are/have:
  1. Active treatment for solid tumor or hematologic malignancies
  2. Receipt of solid-organ transplant and taking immunosuppressive therapy
  3. Receipt of CAR-T cell or hematopoietic stem cell transplant (within two years of transplantation or taking immunosuppression therapy)
  4. Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (e.g., DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
  5. Advanced or untreated HIV infection
  6. Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids (i.e., >20mg prednisone or equivalent per day), alkylating agents, antimetabolites, transplant-related immunosuppressive drugs, cancer chemotherapeutic agents classified as severely immunosuppressive, tumor-necrosis (TNF) blockers, and other biologic agents that are immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory.
  • While a provider referral is not required to receive a third dose of a COVID vaccine, it is highly recommended that you consult with your healthcare provider in making a joint decision about your receiving and the timing of your third dose.
  • By receiving your third dose, you are attesting that you meet the above status of moderately to severely immunocompromised and understand the importance of speaking with your healthcare provider about this third dose.
  • On August 18, 2021, the CT Department of Public Health announced it has been and will continue to work with our federal partners, vaccine providers, and other stakeholders to be sure we are ready to provide boosters when they are recommended.  A booster dose of vaccine is a dose administered to restore protection after the effectiveness of protection from the primary series has declined.
  • At this time, boosters have not been approved by the FDA, ACIP, or CDC.  This is not expected to take effect prior to September 20th, and DPH will review further guidance when it is issued by FDA and ACIP about a booster program for CT residents.
