On Monday, May 23, 2022, Trumbull Police arrested a local man in the area of Forestview Street, after he was observed stumbling in the roadway and was later found to have a loaded gun in his possession. Zachary Hill, age 34, of Lindberg Drive was located by police in the roadway near his home as he was carrying an armful of items, and attempting to conceal a silver object, later determined to be the firearm.

Around 8:00 PM, the Trumbull police received several calls of a male dressed in black, carrying a lot of clothes and acting suspicious. Arriving officers located Hill, and asked him where he was going. Hill told police that he just got into an argument and was "kicked out" of his house. As officers spoke with Hill, his eyes appeared to be red and glassy and his eyelids appeared heavy as they were half shut. Hill also had difficulty articulating the entire event and was slurring his words. Hill was asked to put down his items in the grass, but as he was doing so officers observed him attempting to conceal a silver object under the clothing. The pile of clothing was then checked by investigating officers where they discovered a silver Ruger pistol with a round chambered and the safety disengaged. Officers also located a bag containing packages of green leafy substance and two empty prescription bottles. Further investigation revealed that Hill did have a valid State of Connecticut pistol permit and the Ruger pistol was legally registered to him, but both items were seized by police due to his intoxicated state.

Trumbull EMS were requested to respond to evaluate Hill based on his observed actions and strange behavior. EMS personnel confirmed that Hill’s behavior was consistent being impaired, however, Hill refused further medical attention.

Hill was charged with Illegal Carrying of Firearm while under the Influence of Drugs/Alcohol, Failure to Carry Pistol Permit, and Pedestrian Under the Influence causing a Traffic Hazard. He was issued a misdemeanor summons and released from the scene on a Promise to Appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on June 3, 2022.
