10/14/22 Update: The Town of Trumbull, together with the Trumbull Police Union, will fly the “Blue Line” memorial flag to honor Bristol Sgt. Dustin DeMonte and Officer Alex Hamzy, who were killed in the line of duty and in honor of Officer Alex Lurato, who was wounded.
It also flies in support of our police department and all law enforcement agencies across our country. It is with deep sadness that we ask all residents to keep the fallen Bristol policemen and their families in their thoughts and prayers and keep all officers in their thoughts and prayers as they face uncertainty daily.
Two Bristol police officers were killed and another has serious injuries after they responded to a possible domestic incident involving two siblings Wednesday night, state police said.
The police officers responded to Redstone Hill Road after receiving a 911 call at 10:29 p.m., one suspect was outside and shots were fired, fatally wounding one officer at the scene, police said.
Two other officers were transported from the scene and one was pronounced dead.
Bristol Police have identified the officers who died as Sgt. Dustin Demonte, 35, and Officer Alex Hamzy, 34. The injured officer has been identified as Alec Lurrato, 26. He underwent surgery and is recovering.
Governor Lamont has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset of the day of interment.
