The Trumbull Health Department and Trumbull BMX have partnered together to host the first annual Mother’s Day Bike Rodeo at Indian Ledge Park (upper parking lot), Indian Ledge Road, Trumbull, on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am.   Kids three years and older are invited to grab their bikes and bike helmets and join us.  Bike decorations, in honor of Mother’s Day, are encouraged.   Trumbull BMX will provide a brief presentation on bike safety.  Following the rodeo, experienced bikers will be invited to test out the BMX track.

“The Trumbull Health Department is excited to work with Trumbull BMX and the Parks and Recreation Department on this event,” said Luci Bango, Trumbull Health Department Director of Health.  “The health department encourages all residents to get active this spring.  Biking is a great way to get active and a great opportunity to spend some time with your kids, family and friends.”

There are many benefits to physical activity.  Cardiovascular exercise, such as biking, strengthens the heart and lungs, increasing overall fitness.  It can:

  • Strengthen bones and muscles
  • Improve balance and coordination
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Improve cholesterol levels
  • Increase metabolic rate
  • Improve mental health, and
  • Prevent or manage various conditions, including heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

It is important that children take a break from technology, spend time outdoors, maintain social relationships with their peers, and most importantly, be active!

For more information about the event call the Health Department at 203-452-1030.
