04/26/23: Update on Town Projects
Indian Ledge Park
The majority of the paving of the main road into Indian Ledge Park will be completed this week. Next week, curbing, backfilling, and the final paving coat will be completed. Sidewalk installation will follow, connecting the lower playground parking area to the upper fields and BMX Track area. The paving of the upper parking area has been completed.
The Pequonnock Trail Bridge to Old Mine Park
Mobilization of equipment has occurred this week. The start of work is imminent, and the bridge will be inaccessible during repairs. Please do not attempt to use this portion of the trail. The bridge replacement is expected to be completed in late spring.
Twin Brooks Park
Twin Brooks Park continues to be redesigned and renovated. Tree planting and landscaping has begun.
Sidewalk Construction from Gisella Road to Whitney Avenue, along Main Street
Sidewalk construction along Main Street between Gisella Road and Whitney Ave is scheduled to begin the week of May 1, 2023. This phase of the project is due to be completed in May of 2023, weather permitting. Please use caution when driving through this area.
ARPA Projects
The assessment for electric car charging stations is underway.
The carpet replacement in the main library has begun. The plan is to replace the carpeting in the Children’s section first, followed by the rest of library.
Repairs at the Nature Center are underway. Improvements to the Trumbull Nature and Arts Center include ADA access, ensuring visitors' safety and confidence. Building structural improvements including complete roof replacement, access door replacements, overhead door replacement, and removal of retaining wall and regrading the area is anticipated.
The Health Department improvements are underway. Rehabilitation of the basement to provide safe storage of equipment and supplies, and new lighting/walkways for outdoor safety for staff and visitors will be completed.
