[ARCHIVED] May 6 to 12, 2023: National Nurses Week Proclamation

PROCLAMATION 

WHEREAS, Nursing is a profession within the health care sector focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities so they may attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life; and

WHEREASFlorence Nightingale, an English nurse, became known as the founder of professional nursing, especially due to her pioneering work during the Crimean War; and

WHEREAS, National Nurses Week is a time to raise awareness of the important role nurses play in society. Some of life’s biggest moments are spent with a nurse, including at the beginning of life when we are born; and

WHEREAS, the depth and breadth of the registered nursing profession meet the different and emerging health care needs of the American population in a wide range of setting: and

WHEREAS, we take this moment to embrace the essence of this year’s theme, “Nurses Make a Difference: Anytime, Anywhere - Always.” Let’s join all residents, patients, caregivers, nurses, volunteers and visitors in celebrating this special week and honoring both our vulnerable citizens who receive care and the dedicated ones giving care. 

NOW THEREFORE I, Vicki A. Tesoro, by virtue of the authority vested in me as First Selectman of the Town of Trumbull, Connecticut do hereby proclaim May 6-12, 2023 as NATIONAL NURSES WEEK 

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Town of Trumbull to be affixed on the 6th day of May, 2023.
