WHEREAS, teachers play a crucial role in shaping our children into the people they will become, supporting them through their youth, and teaching lessons that have an impact on students that will carry them through life; and
WHEREAS, teachers spend countless hours outside of the regular school hours preparing, planning, individualizing lessons, and reviewing student work to ensure that students are learning according to the best methods for each individual; and
WHEREAS, because of the increasing diversity of students, teachers must be constantly learning so they may adapt to meet the ever-changing needs of young people in our schools; and
WHEREAS, teaching happens inside and outside the classroom and often includes spending extra time coaching teams, supporting student clubs, and helping students catch up when they have fallen behind; and
WHEREAS, teachers are the ones who inspire and guide our children to become future leaders, innovators, and problem solvers; and
WHEREAS, today and during this week, we celebrate our town’s remarkable teachers and early childhood educators as The Town of Trumbull recognizes and appreciates the pivotal role they play in our children’s lives now and in their future;
NOW, THEREFORE I, Vicki A. Tesoro, by virtue of the authority vested in me as First Selectman of the Town of Trumbull, Connecticut do hereby proclaim May 6 through May 10, 2024 as Teacher Appreciation Week
