WHEREAS, school nurse day was established in 1972 as a day to help us better understand the role of school nurses in educational settings; and
WHEREAS, school nurses are more then just healthcare professionals; they are the support for students, providing physical, emotional, and mental health services within the school setting; and
WHEREAS, from administering first aid, managing chronic conditions, to promoting healthy habits and offering emotional support, school nurses contribute significantly to the overall well-being of students; and
WHEREAS, children today face more complex and serious health problems requiring specialized care in school; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Trumbull recognizes school nurses throughout our community for the compassionate and dedicated service that they provide to our students, families, and schools;
NOW THEREFORE I, Vicki A. Tesoro, by virtue of the authority vested in me as First Selectman of the Town of Trumbull, Connecticut do hereby proclaim May 8, 2024 as National School Nurse Day.
