WHEREAS. The Town of Trumbull observes Pride Month with a Pride flag raising ceremony to honor the history of the LGBTQ liberation movement and to support the rights of all citizens to experience equality and freedom from discrimination; and
WHEREAS, Pride Month commemorates the Stonewall Uprising of June 1969, a pivotal moment in the LGBTQ+ rights movement that sparked a wave of activism and advocacy for equality, justice, and human rights for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity; and
WHEREAS, Pride Month is a time to celebrate the diversity, resilience, and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community, acknowledging their invaluable impact on our society and history; and
WHEREAS, during Pride Month, we reaffirm our commitment to the principles of dignity, respect, and inclusivity, standing against discrimination, prejudice, and violence in all its forms, and promoting a society where everyone can live authentically and freely; and
WHEREAS, Pride Month encourages us to educate ourselves and others about the issues facing the LGBTQ+ community, fostering greater understanding, acceptance, and support through dialogue, visibility, and celebration of our shared humanity.
NOW THEREFORE I, Vicki A. Tesoro, by virtue of the authority vested in me as First Selectman of the Town of Trumbull, Connecticut do hereby proclaim the month of June 2025 as LGBTQ+ PRIDE MONTH.
