[ARCHIVED] Winter Storm Fern Information

Winter Storm (JPG)

January 24, 2026, 3:00 PM

Good afternoon!

This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro.

Heavy and significant snow will begin Sunday morning causing hazardous driving conditions throughout the day. Residents should avoid travelling and remain off the roads as severe conditions will likely limit the Town's ability to clear town streets. For this reason, a parking ban will go into effect tomorrow, Sunday, January 25th at 6am. All vehicles must be moved off the roads to enable our Public Works crews to properly clear town streets or they will be towed at the owner's expense, and you will be subject to a fine. The parking ban will be in effect until further notice. The expiration of the parking ban will be announced on the Town website at www.trumbull-ct.gov and Town of Trumbull social media accounts.

We are asking residents not to push snow from their driveways into the roadways.

This storm is not expected to cause power outages, however, if you experience an outage, report it to United Illuminating at 1-800-722-5584. Downed trees or power lines should be reported to 911.

If you are in need of shelter, please reach out to family and friends, or dial 211 for a list of shelter facilities in the area.

Residents are also reminded of the importance of keeping heating and furnace vents clear of snow to maintain adequate ventilation and remember to keep fire hydrants accessible. Generators need to be used in well vented space. They should never be used in enclosed spaces such as garages or basements.

Please also remember to check on the elderly and disabled to be sure they are safe.

The Trumbull Library will be closed tomorrow.

The Town's transfer station will be closed on Monday.

The decision on the status of other town buildings will be made tomorrow.
