A Bridgeport man was arrested Sunday evening, January 19, following a theft and assault at a restaurant in the Westfield Trumbull Mall. Shaire Bascome, age 22, of Bridgeport, was charged with Robbery 2nd degree, Assault 3rd degree, and Disorderly Conduct, but another unidentified accomplice escaped.
At about 5:00 p.m., on January 19th, Bascome entered the Ten Asian Bistro restaurant with another unidentified male, who was observed grabbing a handful of cash from a tip jar that was on the countertop. When an employee confronted the man and tried to stop him from leaving, Bascome grabbed the employee by wrapping his arms around her, picked her up and swinging her into a glass door. Both men fled the area on foot, but only Bascome was later apprehended by police nearby in the mall. The second suspect fled into the woods and escaped. The restaurant employee sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident, but did not require medical attention.
Bascome was held on a $25,000 bond, and is scheduled to at Bridgeport Superior Court on January 27, 2020. Bascome also had an active arrest warrant for Violating a Court Order with a $75,000 bond.
