We are asking Trumbull citizens to step up and use their skills to help their community. The Trumbull Office of Emergency Management is ready to start another CERT basic training program. This 20 hour program will provide each new member with basic training to prepare for and survive natural and man-made disasters. These skills build your individual resiliency during a hazardous event, allowing you to protect and train your family, and ultimately to assist your neighbors.
CERT is a national program overseen by FEMA. Trumbull CERT will operate as a coordinated Team to assist the Town of Trumbull. The Trumbull Emergency Management Director will call upon the CERT team to respond to the needs of the community. In some instances we may be asked to assist other communities in our area. In all cases the CERT member will be fully briefed and directed to perform specific duties.
The initial training will begin on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the Trumbull EMS training room, 250 Middlebrooks Avenue, Trumbull, CT 06611, starting at 7:00 p.m. The training will continue every Tuesday and Thursday through November 14, 2019. At the end of the program, you will receive a certificate of completion which certifies you as a CERT member. In addition to the basic CERT course, you will be trained in basic shelter operations including animal sheltering.
