Good Afternoon,
This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro with an important COVID-19 Update.
As of today, we have 97 laboratory confirmed cases in Trumbull. There are now 5 Trumbull residents who have passed away. There are 9,784 confirmed cases in CT and 380 deaths. According to the latest data 40% of people admitted to Connecticut hospitals have been discharged.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of our residents who have died from or are currently suffering from COVID-19.
If you need to leave your home to get food or other essential items, please practice strict social distancing, avoid gatherings of any type, and wear a face covering and gloves if you have them. Please do not host any events, such as parties and dinners that involve interacting with people that are outside your household.
For those who are not respecting the closures and restrictions throughout Town we have instituted trespassing fines and other penalties. It’s unfortunate that we need to resort to fining our residents who do not take this situation seriously. We are left with no other choice as our first priority is to protect the health and safety of all of our residents, First Responders, and health professionals. I can’t emphasize this enough, please stay home as much as possible.
Governor Lamont announced yesterday that schools will remain closed until May 20th. At that time the situation will be reevaluated.
In accordance with the Governor’s orders any person already approved for and receiving relief under the Town’s Elderly or Disabled Tax Relief Program is not required to reapply. However, first time filers must still file an application with the Tax Assessor’s Office. Please call 203-452-5016 or email: jferrigno@trumbull-ct.gov for more information. Make sure to include your name, property location and phone number in your communication.
On April 1st the Governor released an order focusing on municipal tax relief. We have received additional guidance about this order and will provide information about this program soon. The Town Council must approve any tax relief program. A special meeting of the Council will be held for that purpose.
