Good Evening,
This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro with an important update.
As of today we have 372 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Trumbull. 57 of our Trumbull residents have passed away.
Please keep all of these families in your thoughts and prayers.
As I reported in my last call COVID-19 hospitalizations have declined in Fairfield County and also statewide. We have started contact tracing in an effort to further slow the spread of this virus.
Based on these positive hospitalization trends we will be reopening Twin Brooks Park, Old Mine Park and the Tashua Knolls Golf Course.
Effective tomorrow Friday, May 1st both Twin Brooks Park and Old Mine Park will reopen daily from 9 AM – 7 PM. The parks are open only for passive recreational activities such as walking, biking, jogging, and exercising. Vehicles only with a valid Trumbull 2019 or 2020 parking sticker will be allowed entrance. If you need a parking sticker please go to the Parks & Recreation page on the Town website for further information. Additional COVID-19 park regulations can also be found on the Town website. Please be familiar with these rules and regulations before you go to the parks. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
Effective Tuesday, May 5th the Tashua Knolls Golf Course, including Tashua Glen and the driving range will open. Initially, golf will be for walkers only. We worked with Director of Golf Bobby Brown and the Golf Course Commission to ensure the safety of the golfers and our Town employees. Please check TashuaKnolls.com tomorrow morning for a complete list of COVID-19 safety procedures and to obtain tee times.
All other parks, recreation areas, and school outdoor facilities will remain closed until further notice. We will announce additional openings as this situation continues to improve.
The reopening of these town spaces does not mean that other guidelines and orders of the Governor are no longer in force. We continue to emphasize the importance of following social distancing guidelines, to wear a mask in public places where social distancing is not possible, and to stay home as much as possible to keep your family and others safe.
I would like to thank everyone for their patience and continued cooperation as we work together to get through this crisis.
If you or anyone you know is struggling to purchase food or can’t get to the store please contact Social Services at 203-452-5136, for this and other services and assistance.
Donations of food and monetary contributions are needed at the Food Pantry. Please visit the Town website or call 203-452-5136 for more information on how you can donate.
Please stay safe, stay well, and stay home as much as possible.
Thanks for listening.
