Any decision to lift some of the restrictions put in place during the Covid-19 pandemic has been made based on official data and in consultation with Public Health, Federal, State and Local Emergency Management Officials.
The initial opening of town spaces will include Old Mine Park and Twin Brooks Park. Additional considerations for opening other town spaces willinclude:
- Face coverings where practical are recommended.
- Physical distancing of six feet or more is required where practical.
- Parking areas will be monitored for legal parking and capacity.
- No more than 5 people can be in any one area at time; residents are strongly advised not to interact with members outside their immediate household.
Old Mine Park and Twin Brooks Park/Walking Trails
Hours of Operation:
9 AM – 7 PM
Park Rangers and Police will monitor parking areas, walkways, and trails. Open for passive recreational activities such as walking, biking, jogging, and exercising only.
Park Regulations (all open locations):
- All vehicles are required to have valid 2019 or 2020 parking permit (park sticker).
- Vehicles without a park sticker will be denied entry and/or ticketed.
- Any activity that encourages loitering or group gatherings, such as picnics, sunbathing, group sports, etc., is prohibited.
- All playgrounds, restrooms, athletic fields, and pavilions are closed.
- Dogs must be leashed at all times. Please clean up after your pet as required by town ordinance.
- All patrons must obey park signage, including temporary signage.
- Face coverings are recommended when physical distancing cannot be maintained.
- Patrons must follow the social distancing and safety protocols recommended by the CDC. Residents that are walking together should be limited to immediate family members that are living together. Park Rangers reserve the right to remove patrons who do not practice safe social distancing.
- “Carry-in, carry-out” trash policy.
- Parking is allowed only in designated parking areas and is not allowed along roadways with no parking signs or on the grass.
- Decisions to close a park will be made by the police and/or the health department.
Additional Information Regarding Old Mine Park:
Parking is allowed ONLY in designated parking spaces, which includes Old Mine Road. A valid parking permit is required for entry. A Park Ranger will be at the entrance and will confirm the vehicle has a valid park sticker affixed to it prior to entry. To ensure the safety of our Park Rangers, photo ID, vehicle registration or other proof of residency will not be allowed for entrance.
No parking on Tungsten Circle or around the perimeter of the parking lot. Rangers will patrol the parking area and surrounding roads checking for park stickers and proper parking.
Once at capacity, the Park Rangers will follow a 2-cars-in, 2-cars-out protocol. Vehicles will not be allowed to form a queue and wait to enter, nor will the Park Rangers “hold” a spot for a vehicle to gain entry.
Park Rangers reserve the right to deny entry.
Additional Information Regarding Twin Brooks Park:
To help ensure safe social distancing, there will be a limited number of vehicles (60) allowed in Twin Brooks Park at any given time. Vehicles may only enter at the Brock Street entrance -- the Franklin Street entrance will remain locked.
A valid parking permit is required for entry. A Park Ranger will be at the entrance and will confirm the vehicle has a valid park sticker affixed to it prior to entry. To ensure the safety of our Park Rangers, photo ID, vehicle registration or other proof of residency will not be allowed for entrance.
Once at capacity, the Park Rangers will follow a 2-cars-in, 2-cars-out protocol. Vehicles will not be allowed to form a queue and wait to enter, nor will the Park Rangers “hold” a spot for a vehicle to gain entry.
Vehicles may park only in the main and pavilion parking lots. Parking will not be allowed on the grass or along roadways.
The Franklin Street lot will be open for parking. Vehicles must have a valid parking permit and may park only in designated parking spots. The vehicles that park in the Franklin Street lot are not included in the maximum vehicle count for the main park.
Parking is not allowed along Brock Street, Twin Brooks Drive, and Franklin Street.
Park Rangers reserve the right to deny entry.
Parking Permit Information:
All vehicles are required to have valid 2019 or 2020 parking permit (park sticker).
Park stickers will not be distributed at park entrances.
While the Parks and Recreation office is closed, you may request a parking permit (park sticker) via email. Park permits take 3-5 days to process so please plan accordingly.
- A current, non-expired, vehicle registration reflecting a tax town of Trumbull (number 144) and
- A valid driver’s license.
- The name on the license must match the name on the vehicle registration.
- Parks and Recreation office will review your documents. You will receive a confirmation that your sticker request is being processed or a request for additional information if needed.
- Your sticker will be mailed to you. For your convenience, residents will not be charged for mailing.

Athletic Fields/Playgrounds & Parks/School Fields
With the exception of Rails to Trails, Old Mine Park, and Twin Brooks Park, ALL other parks, recreation areas, and school outdoor facilities will remain closed until further notice.
