Connecticut Business Reopening Guidelines Message from David Lehman, Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development:
Yesterday (May 8th), Governor Lamont and I shared additional details about the phased plan to reopen the state. Our goal is to reopen safely and securely with clear rules for businesses that safeguard the health of all of our residents.
For Phase 1, which we expect to begin on May 20, we are now able to share industry-specific rules for restaurants, offices, retail, hair salons and barber shops, and museums and zoos.
The rules include detailed information and requirements about physical distancing, hygiene, sanitizing, personal protective equipment (PPE), scheduling, training and much more.
Please note all businesses subject to these guidelines are required to self-certify prior to opening May 20th. The certification system will be online next week, and a link will be added to this page at that time.

In addition, we established a new task force that will help small businesses understand and implement these new regulations. The task force, made up of small business and industry associations from around the state, will release a detailed guide by May 15 to help organizations implement our rules and open safely.
We will continue to share news as it becomes available.
Sincerely,
David Lehman, Commissioner
