Good Afternoon,
This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro.
Tomorrow Monday, May 25th we will celebrate Memorial Day.
We will honor those men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for their Country so their fellow citizens could enjoy the freedoms we cherish.
This day of remembrance is about these real life heroes who answered our nation’s call and paid the ultimate price.
We are living in unprecedented times. Our lives have been disrupted in ways we could not have imagined only a few months ago. Yet, in time, we will overcome this challenge and once again enjoy those things we have now come to appreciate even more than before.
For these heroes who gave their lives for others, there was no chance to return to those they loved and live the lives they enjoyed before. Let’s remember on this most solemn of days that they paid the price for the freedoms we enjoy. Let’s honor their memories with a renewed commitment to our community, to our nation and to one another.
In doing so, we give them the honor they so richly deserve.
To bring all of Trumbull together to celebrate this most important day I’m asking all of our residents to step out onto your porch, patio, yard, or driveway tomorrow at 12:00 noon to applaud, ring bells, blow horns, shout and cheer for a full 60 seconds. We can honor all those who made the supreme sacrifice for us and also celebrate the Trumbull Police Department, Trumbull EMS, Trumbull Fire Departments, medical personnel, and all the essential employees that have kept us safe during these difficult times.
Please be safe tomorrow and enjoy your families.
Thanks for listening!
