The holiday season is best known as a festive time, a time to celebrate with friends and family. It is also a time of remembrance. Remembering those who are no longer with us. Remembering those who helped us in some way throughout the year.
Like most things this year, our celebrations will be more low key. However, in these difficult times it is more important than ever to keep in our thoughts our First Responders, our police, our emergency medical personnel, and our volunteer fire fighters who work tirelessly to keep us safe and healthy. They have earned once again, our admiration and our respect.
Remember also our public works employees, our parks employees, and all those other town employees who work hard to keep our town safe and to provide the services we have come to enjoy.
Remember our teachers, our school administrators, and other school employees who are working under the most difficult of circumstances. Their dedication to our children is remarkable and their performance of their duties exceptional.
We are truly blessed as a community to have such wonderful people serving our Town.
As a community, let’s keep in mind and support those who are in need, those who are ill or those who have suffered the loss of a loved one.
Please keep in your thoughts those fellow citizens who serve in our armed forces.
It is an honor and a privilege to be your First Selectman.
I want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and a safe, happy, and healthy New Year.
