First Selectman Tesoro Names Leigh Goodman New Chief of Trumbull Emergency Medical Services
January 3, 2019 — First Selectman Vicki A. Tesoro, jointly with the EMS Commission, has appointed Leigh Goodman as the new Chief of Emergency Medical Services for the Town of Trumbull, effective Wednesday, January 2nd. In her role, Goodman will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the Trumbull Emergency Medical Services. It will be her responsibility to evaluate and compile an ongoing review of the services’ operating systems and help plan for the needs of the agencies and the public it serves. Goodman is familiar with Trumbull, having been a paramedic in Trumbull since 2016, working for Trumbull through Danbury Ambulance as well as through Vintech.
Goodman has functioned in the role of clinical supervisor to both volunteer and contracted paramedics and EMTs. Goodman is a Community Narcan Outreach Coordinator with extensive experience in community outreach programs. Among her numerous awards are the TPAUD 2018 Prevention Champion, the Bridgeport EMS Provider of the Year 2017, and Trumbull EMS Service Medal of Excellence 2016.
“I am truly committed to our Emergency Medical Services, to providing our residents with the most current, evidence-based, best practice medical care in the pre-hospital setting,” stated Goodman. “I would be honored to take on this challenging and critical role.”
According to First Selectman Tesoro, “After an extensive search process, Leigh Goodman emerged as passionate, caring, and the most capable candidate to lead Trumbull EMS into the future. The EMS Commission was impressed with her forward thinking and her passion for her work as an emergency responder. We are excited to have Leigh accept the position as Chief of the Trumbull EMS.”
Goodman is a graduate of Trinity College of London and the Bridgeport Hospital Emergency Management Institute.
