[ARCHIVED] Tropical Storm Elsa & Fireworks Update

Town of Trumbull Seal

Good Evening,

This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro with an important weather update and information about the town fireworks on Saturday.

In addition to the storms this evening we are expecting tropical storm Elsa to affect our area beginning Friday morning. If possible please make sure that storm drains, gutters, and leaders are cleared and also tie down any loose patio furniture that could be blown away.

We are expecting heavy rain over the next 24 hours.

Always stay away from downed power lines and stay out of flooded basements.

Report power outages to UI by calling 800-722-5584.

For downed trees in roadways please call the Trumbull Police Department’s nonemergency line at 203-261-3665.

The town playground and junior camps will be closed tomorrow due to the weather conditions. It is unlikely that the town pools will open prior to noon tomorrow.

The storm should be over sometime tomorrow afternoon. Weather permitting, the Trumbull Day fireworks will be held this Saturday, July 10, at Trumbull High School.

The grounds will open at 6:00 PM and the fireworks will begin around 9:00 PM.

Admission is free! Parking is available at Trumbull High School and Hillcrest Middle School.

Many of the food trucks that were at Trumbull Day will be returning for this event, and there will be a DJ providing entertainment.  You may choose from the food trucks or bring your own picnic, but no alcohol is allowed on school property.

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets.

Please come and enjoy the food, entertainment, and fireworks!

Please be careful and stay safe.

Thanks for listening.
