Trumbull Wins Game 1, 2 & 3 of Babe Ruth World Series

Way to go Trumbull! We are so proud of our team! 

Trumbull takes down Tallahassee, Florida by a score of 2-1 in a game that featured two undefeated teams fighting for the #1 seed in our pool. The win improves Trumbull to 3-0 in pool play and secures Trumbull first place in our pool and a bye into Tuesday’s Babe Ruth World Series semifinal game! 

Game 3: 

New England Champions (Trumbull, CT) 2
Southeast Champions (Tallahassee, FL) 1 

Trumbull improved their record to 3-0 in the 15 Year Old Babe Ruth World Series with a win over Southeast Champions Tallahassee, Florida. Jeffrey Kraus was electric throwing 5 innings allowing only 1 run before he had to be removed for max pitch count. Dylan Lamy came in relief for the 6th inning and tossed a 1, 2, 3 frame. Sean Francoeur came into the game with Tallahassee threatening with 1st and 2nd and no outs. Francoeur struck out Tallahassee’s #3 and #4 batter to secure the win and earn the save. 

Since the start of Regional play through today, Sean Francoeur has pitched 19.1 scoreless innings with 0 walks & 27 strikeouts. 

Kraus, Lamy, and Francoeur combined to go 7 innings allowing 5 hits, 1 run, and striking out a combined 8 batters. Kraus improves his pitching record to 1-0 in the World Series while Francoeur picks up his first save. 

Trumbull was lead offensively by DJ Amaral and AJ Albaladejo. With Trumbull trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second Amaral laced a two out, two strike single to tie the game. Albaladejo followed with what ending up being the game winning two out single to score Francoeur. 

Offensive Highlights:

  • Jack Durland was 1-2 with a walk
  • Nick Lobuono was 1-3 with a run scored
  • Jeffrey Kraus was 1-3
  • DJ Amaral was 1-2 with an RBI
  • AJ Albaladejo was 1-2 with an RBI

Trumbull will play our final pool play game tomorrow (Sunday, 8/15/21), at 3:30pm Eastern Standard Time game against Kelso, Washington. Trumbull will be looking to wrap up pool play 4-0!

East Texas State Champion (Del Rio, TX) 2 

Trumbull improved their record to 2-0 in the 15 Year Old Babe Ruth World Series with a win over East Texas State Champion Del Rio, Texas. AJ Albaladejo was outstanding on the mound pitching into the 5th inning before handing the ball over to Brandon Fowler with a 10-2 lead. Albaladejo and Fowler combined to go 7 innings while only giving up 3 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk, and striking out a combined 12 batters. Albaladejo improves his pitching record to 1-0 in the World Series. 

Trumbull was lead offensively by Jack Durland and Jeffrey Kraus who had two hits each. 

Offensive Highlights:

Jack Durland was 2-4 with a walk and two runs scored Jeffrey Kraus was 2-2 with two walks and two runs scored Ryan Warner walked three times and scored two runs Matt Wood was 1-4 with a walk and run scored Jake Hull was 1-3 with a walk DJ Amaral was 1-3 with a walk and run scored Dylan Lamy was 1-3 with a walk and two runs scored.

Trumbull will continue in pool play tomorrow (Saturday, 8/14/21) at 1:00pm Eastern Standard Time game against Tallahassee, Florida. Both teams will be entering the game at 2-0.

Mid Atlantic Champions (Mifflin County, PA) 0 

Trumbull opened up the Babe Ruth World Series with a win over Mid Atlantic champion Mifflin County down in Eagle Pass, Texas on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. Trumbull was led by great defense and a phenomenal pitching performance by Sean Francoeur. Francoeur threw a complete game gem in the opening round, tossing 7 innings and allowing 5 hits, zero walks, and a whopping 11 strikeouts. In just 80 pitches, Francoeur delivered 67 strikes. Francoeur also played down a perfect safety squeeze in the fourth inning to push the lead to 2-0. AJ Albaladejo followed that up by walking, which pushed across another run to extend the lead to 3-0. Trumbull tacked on a final run in the top of the 7th with a two out, two strike single by Jack Durland to increase the lead to 4-0. 

Offensive Highlights:

  • Jack Durland was 1-3 with a walk and RBI
  • Matt Wood was 1-1 with 2 walks, stolen base, and run scored
  • Ryan Warner was 1-3
  • Nick Lobuono was 1-2 with a walk and run scored

  • Sean Francoeur was named Ron Tellefsen Player Of The Game
