[ARCHIVED] 2022-02-10 Motor Vehicle Accident Results in Death of Trumbull Man

On Wednesday, February 9, 2022, a single car motor vehicle accident, occurred in Trumbull, ending with the death of a local man, closing the road for several hours. The victim, Scott Polke, age 59, of Clover Hill Road, was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle.

At around 3:30 PM, the Trumbull Police received several 911 calls to report the motor vehicle accident in the area of Daniels Farm Road near Laurel Street. Arriving Trumbull officers began rendering medical aid to him. Trumbull EMS arrived and assisted with treating the victim before transporting him to Saint Vincent’s Hospital where he later died from his injuries. The Trumbull Center Fire Department also responded and assisted with securing the scene.

The man’s vehicle had traveled Southerly on Daniels Farm Road before it collided with a tree near Laurel Street where it came to rest. The accident scene spanned the entire block of Daniels Farm Road between Laurel Street and Little Plain Road. The Trumbull and Fairfield Police Department’s Traffic Divisions are currently investigating this incident. The cause of the accident and cause of death have not been determined at this time.

At approximately 6:00 PM, the area of Daniels Farm Road between Little Plain Road and Laurel Street had been reopened. Traffic flow has since returned to normal and the detours around the area of Daniels Farm Road are no longer in effect.
