On Monday, April 10, 2023, Trumbull police were dispatched to the Trumbull Shopping Mall for a report of a fight and that one of the involved individuals was reported to have a knife. The fifteen (15) year old male resident of Trumbull Avenue Bridgeport, was eventually located by police and arrested for his involvement in this incident.
Just before 3:00 PM, police were called to the Trumbull Mall for a report of a fight in front of the Apple store. The fight had been broken up and the involved individuals dispersed the area prior to the officer’s arrival. Investigating officers learned that the suspect with the knife had left the area, but they eventually located him walking through the Men's Department of Macy’s. Officers detained this individual to investigate further and learned that he was a juvenile and had a kitchen knife, wrapped with a white shoe lace around the grip, concealed in the his waistband. The teen told police that he carries the knife for protection to "defend himself,” but claimed that he was not involved in the fight. The teen did tell officers that he was in the arcade near the Apple Store when he saw a fight break out, but he left the area. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
The teen was issued a Juvenile Summons and charged with Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, and Breach of Peace. He was released to the custody of his mother, on a promise to appear in Juvenile Court, at 60 Housatonic Avenue, on April 17, 2023.
