The Town of Trumbull currently has 12 pickleball courts situated within our park system. We anticipate by mid-June we will increase that number to 20 courts. Trumbull will have more courts than almost any other town in Connecticut. To maximize usage of our courts, we are modifying some rules of operation. A full list of clarifications and changes are listed below:
Who can make a reservation?
Only residents may request a permit. All permits are free. Courts are available for play without reservation when not reserved. However, parking stickers are required outside of permitted activities.
When can I rent/reserve a pickleball court?
Requests will be taken on a first come, first served basis through our online portal: Trumbull Parks & Recreation: Facilities (myrec.com). Permits are available in 2-hour time blocks starting at 9am*. One permit, per resident, per week. A week is considered Sunday-Saturday. Permits may be requested on a monthly basis but will not be approved prior to the week before a month starts. For example, the last week of May is when court permits for the month of June will be approved.
*There are select times which are pre-reserved for Social Play, The Trumbull Senior Center Club, as well as Trumbull Parks and Recreation activities. The schedule for these can be found online at https://trumbullct.myrec.com/info/calendar/default.aspx
What if I see a court is open?
Any court unoccupied/unreserved, at any given time is available for use by residents free of charge on a first come, first served basis, including courts at Unity reserved for social club play. We ask that all players limit their play to 90 minutes. If a current permit holder arrives on site during their scheduled permit time or a social club member arrives at Unity during social club hours, the court must be released by the drop-in user immediately, whether or not play is complete.
Where can I register for Pickleball lessons?
Trumbull Parks & Recreation partners with Fairfield County Tennis to offer Adult pickleball lessons for beginner through low intermediate players. For more information, and to register, please visit: Trumbull Parks & Recreation: Adult Pickleball with Fairfield County Tennis (myrec.com)
What is Social Play?
Pickleball Social Play is a non-instructional program through Trumbull Parks & Recreation. Participants are able to connect with other players to coordinate game-play (including ladder play and designated courts by level) during the programs designated times. This program allows players to participate in a large group setting versus being restricted to 4-6 players. Pickleball Passes will be issued to all registered participants on/around June 1st.
Trumbull Social Play currently occurs on Mon/Wed/Fri from 9am-12pm and 4pm-8pm at the Unity Courts only. On June 1st Social Play hours will expand to Saturday mornings from 9am-12pm. Due to current programming (lessons and preexisting resident permits) we are unable to expand The Trumbull Parks & Recreation Social Play prior to a mid-June date. On/around June 16th the program hours will expand to Monday through Friday, 9am-12pm & 4pm-8pm, and Saturday, 9am -12pm.
Cost is $25 for residents and $45 for non-residents for the year.
