The “Storm Ready Community” distinction is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the local government, emergency management teams, and dedicated community members who have worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of Trumbull’s residents.
Emergency Management Director Megan Murphy stated, “We are thrilled to be recognized as a Storm Ready Community. This achievement is a reflection of the proactive measures and comprehensive planning undertaken by the town to safeguard our residents and infrastructure during times of natural disaster. The rigorous criteria set forth by the National Weather Service necessitates a comprehensive approach to preparedness, including the establishment of a 24-hour warning point and emergency operations center, multiple methods of receiving severe weather forecasts and warnings, the creation of a formal hazardous weather plan, and a commitment to enhancing public awareness through community outreach initiatives.
First Selectman Vicki A Tesoro stated, “ I applaud the efforts of Trumbull’s Emergency Management Team in elevating Trumbull’s preparedness to a level that exceeds most communities and moves Trumbull to the forefront of storm preparedness.
