[ARCHIVED] Proclamation: April 26, 2024 is National Arbor Day

PROCLAMATION 

WHEREAS,  National Arbor Day is Americas oldest environmental holiday and is observed every year on the last Friday in April: and 

WHEREAS,  trees are vital to our environment, providing oxygen, improving air quality, conserving water, preserving soil supporting wildlife and beautifying our communities; and 

WHEREAS,  trees play a crucial role in combating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, reducing temperatures, and mitigating the impacts of extreme weather events; and   

WHEREAS,  Arbor Day serves as a reminder of the importance of trees and encourages individuals and communities to plant, nurture, and celebrate these invaluable natural resources; and 

WHEREAS,  Trumbull was named a 2023 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to effective urban forest management. Trees being planted and cared for by Trumbull are ensuring that generations to come will enjoy a better quality of life; and 

NOW, THEREFORE I, Vicki Tesoro, by virtue of the authority vested in me as First Selectman of the Town of Trumbull, Connecticut do hereby proclaim April 26, 2024 as, National Arbor Day 

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Town of Trumbull to be affixed on the 26th day of April in the year 2024.
